Killer Poke — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Just so you know, I’m always honest with reviews! Hush! Flow and go to Killer Poke! They been around for years, but to me they were still new. I flew by a few times, always said “man I got try them!” Even tried one time but I missed ‘em. The time wasn’t right, but it worked out just fine! I met a cool guy. He’s in AZ, his name is Randy. He saw something in me, man. Decided to lend a hand. Sent me money for lunch with Apple Pay. Yeah, he got poke that day! Had to pay it forward. Always moving to the right. Leave negative energy behind! Knew exactly where I wanted to go when the craving wouldn’t go away. And I gotta say… it was a great day! And I don’t even own an AK! Yet… These brothers were a ray of sunshine in a hot, baked, dry and dusty place! Yuh, it’s Don Cavatti! Soon to be the owner of a more heavenly body, And your divine cuisine is helping me achieve my dream! Aiight, y’all got better things to do than read this review. Keep positively progressing! And get some Killer Poke in you too, foo! Hahaha, I’m a weird dude, but I wear it with pride. Go inside, and enjoy!

Quick Summary It's very hard to differentiate yourself as a poke spot; food was great, service was good, restaurant was very clean, and value is good. Killer Poke epitomizes the standard poke spot.

Food- 4 stars The fish quality is above average here. I ordered the spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon and there was no scent of anything spoiled (this is my biggest fear of poke spots). They have all the standard toppings and I give them a huge gold star for freshness (e.g. nothing seemed like it's been left over from the day before)

Service- 5 stars Servers are very friendly when they're picking out your bowl. Felt very welcomed throughout my stay

Atmosphere- 4 stars I liked the contemporary vibe of the restaurant with the outside patio. However, this is more of a knock on downtown, but don't be surprised to see some panhandlers around the area

Value- 4 stars Good food and fresh ingredients at less than $15.

Bottom Line If you're around the area and craving poke, Killer Poke is your spot and more. Just not sure if I would go all the way across town for it because of how many other poke spots are around...

Out of all the poke places in Bakersfield, this is by far the best one! Food, Atmosphere, and Service were all top notch.

Atmosphere - very clean, may seem small but there is plenty of seating inside and out

Service - super friendly and welcoming. First time? no problem, they were more than happy to answer any questions. Most people get their food to-go, and you're in and out very quick

Food - for me, this is the main reason they deserve 5 stars. Overall quality of the food [salmon, shrimp, etc.] is fresh, as well as the toppings. I don't do raw, and specifically the shrimp is bigger than all the other poke places in town. My sister [who does eat raw] ordered the salmon and she also says the fish was more fresh than the last poke place we ate at (SWP). I forgot to mention that the amount of portions they give you is also more than the other poke joints for the same price (SWP)

You won't be disappointed in trying this place out, and if I'm wrong, try the other places and I'm sure you'll be coming back to this place. Oh yeah, if you think it's too overpriced; I'd rather pay more for quality...
