We witnessed A family have a horrible experience in this resturant today.
We personally have been fan of this place for years! We came and ate at this resturant at least every other week. Aa imes a year. For special occasions or just to have lunch and dinner. Never had an issue other than waiting a little to long for our waiter to check on us.
Today during our lunch meal today we witnessed 3 adult women and 5 children waiting on meals. I over heard one say a fly in the meal. Mind we just wittnessed receive their food. The adult woman ran to the restoom. Herd her say im going to vomit. While the other adult went to take the plate to the front. She was then directed to the manager. The Manager did their due diligente asked to replace meal or to not pay. It was decided to leave the clean meal that was just left on the table. Manager said it was OK to leave and no problem. The food was not consumed other than the egg flower soup for the kids. That was why I believe the manager was OK.
As they walk out, the owner is running out of the resturant yelling telling them thay can't leave with out paying. That they were liars that she saw on the camara the fly was placed on the plate. Then when asked to show the camara she said a customer said she and told. Tue lady was explaining to her that she spoke to the her manager about the meal about they a d the manager said it was OK that she could leave. The manager continued to yell and scream to humiliate this family but not once did she call the manager to confirm or the waiter or the cashier she showed the food to. The woman tried to keep explaining that how were they going agree to pay after the manager said it was OK. They couldn't eat since they were grossed out at that moment. The woman paid for the meal anyway. She told the owner that should be communicating with the manager to know what was going on in her resturant. The owner continued yelling and telling people to take pictures amd video that they were leaving with out paying. So people and staff were. I walked out with my company told the staff that wasn't OK. It was really unfair to treat any customer that way especially after they volunteered to pay for a meal they did not consume becouse of the restaurants mistake. When I walked out I saw the woman distraught crying calling BPD to make a police report on the owner for harassment and not providing a clean meal for the payment given.
I felt horrible for this family because the owner knew she was in the wrong but still continued to play the part of the victim. With the false accusation and publicly humiliating her and her children.
I did not approach them. But decided to write this review in their part. In case they don't.
Its very shameful of tue owner amd staff that did not stand up for them when they new the owner was wrong.
They did pay for the meal.
Im unsure of I'll go back again. It was sad to see that and feel like at any given moment they could to that to me or any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, today was the last time we will ever go to Rice Bowl. My husband and I sometimes go there for lunch, usually we get in and out within an hour. Today was different. We arrived at 12:12 and were seated right away, that was great! After we were seated it was visibly busy but no worries. We waited and waited for a waitress to come. It was over 5 minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink.. again, not a big deal. After she brought the drinks, we ordered. I got a burger and my husband got a lunch special. It was almost 12:30 before he even got his soup. I watched 2 ladies come in after us and had their drinks and soup before my husband got his..... fast fwd to 12:40 and we are starting to get apprehensive about being able to get back to work... no waitress to give an update. Almost 12:45 we decided to just ask to pay for our drinks and soup... the lady that manages or owns the place decided she was going to check on our food.... at this point nothing mattered as we were not going to have time to eat! We expressed we really needed to leave and then we got YELLED AT in front of customers that, we had already ordered and we had to pay... even though, we couldn't eat it. She shoved the bag of food at us and tried to tell us to request not to have that waitress next time, and that we should tell them we are in a hurry. We weren't in a huge hurry so, why would we do that? We understand that food takes time but, when it takes an excessive amount of time, and we need to leave we would like to NOT be YELLED at because we need to go in a hurry, so we wouldn't be late back to work. $25 later and im still hungry because I can't eat at my desk lol!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI haven't been here in a while but I was looking forward to coming in. It sucks when you are looking forward to something and it wasn't what you were expecting. We visited tonight and was served by Zandria. She brought us our drinks and told us it would be just a minute to take our order. Well a minute turned into 10. Then she brought our food but my friend was told it would be just a minute to bring out his teriyaki chicken. She also said she would bring the mustard and ketchup and that took 10 minutes. We didn't see her for a while and when she asked if I wanted a refill I reminded her about the mustard and ketchup and she just walked away. I tried to ask about the chicken but couldn't even get the words out because she pretty much didn't want to listenAnd then when she finally brought the teriyaki chicken, it was cold. This girl had a party in the other room and the other waiter could've helped her out but I guess teamwork isn't a priority at this place? This girl was inexcusably rude. Me and my friend both work in customer service and understand it can get overwhelming but come on, fake it at least. My advise is to retrain, but I was told by the cashier who happened to be related to her that "that was just her." And also that they have had some complaints about her already. Obviously she can't change and it isn't right to keep someone who keeps bringing in complaints and is getting away with it. She got no tip from me but this review is her tip. She doesn't know customer service and as she was helping others, she would look at us as if she knew how we were acting. If she doesn't like her job, she shouldn't be there.
