Pollo Campero — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Me and my wife had heard about pollo campero so we went on Sunday 9/14/25 after reading the menu on line and seeing they had roasted chicken ( my wife has a medical condition in which she cant consume fried or battered chicken) after waiting in line 15 minutes we ordered the roasted chicken and we're told they didn't have any roasted chicken available for 25 min. We couldn't believe it but we already waited this long so we agreed to wait the 25 min. About 30 min.later the guy comes to our table and tells us it's going to be 90 minutes for the roasted chicken. No explanation why it took 30 minutes to figure out it was going to take 90 minutes for our order is unacceptable. They didn't offer us any apology just refunded our money and said I gave you a coupon for your trouble. Got to the car and my wife says this coupon expired 8/13/25. Go figure. Went at 3:30. Drive thru was filling up nicely. Dining room was 60% full but moving quickly. Both me and my bud got our food within 60 seconds of ordering.

Friends chicken combo and empenada was all hot tasty and fresh. They just forgot his tortillas which was extra$ i believe.

My spicy sandwich combo was tasty and fresh except the yucca fries were room temperature and u only get 6-7 pieces. Thats the only issue for me.

Every meal is right around $9-$11. Drinks arent included in any option you choose. Its separate. $3-$4 extra. I didnt see an a la carte option for sandwich only.

Just opened, so the hype and quality will most likely drop or suffer further. When u ask for any “fries” side request freshly fried. Ive had better chicken sandwich meals for less $ elsewhere. Worth trying or waiting if its busy. 👍...

The service here is very polite. A little confusing getting to the drive thru. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich combo. The total was $11.12 and no drink. The fries were unimpressive and stale and lacked salt. The spicy chicken sandwich consisted of a small blob of sauce in the center of the bun that didn’t even expand to half the sandwich. When I picked up the sandwich the bottom bun was ice cold and threw me off. I love pickles on chicken sandwiches but these seemed to taste like bread and butter pickles which tasted horrible. I had to remove them which unfortunately took what little sauce was on the sandwich. The sandwich was very dry which was tough because I didn’t get a drink with the order.
