Outstanding Dining Experience at Rusty Scupper: Impeccable Service and Exquisite Cuisine
Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Rusty Scupper restaurant in Baltimore Harbor, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment we entered, we were greeted warmly by the attentive staff, and our evening only got better from there.
Our waitress, Emily, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She presented the menu items with a delightful blend of professionalism and warmth, offering valuable suggestions and sharing her personal favorites. Emily's attention to detail and genuine passion for the culinary experience elevated our evening and made us feel truly valued as guests.
Throughout our meal, the entire staff demonstrated a remarkable commitment to ensuring our needs were met. They stood near their tables, always ready to assist and provide anything we required. It was refreshing to see that not once did we observe any staff members engrossed in their cell phones. Their focus was entirely on providing exceptional service, which greatly enhanced our overall dining experience.
Now let's talk about the food—the highlight of our visit. We began with the fresh oysters, opting to split a dozen between the renowned Prince Edward Island (PEI) variety and the Gold Coast oysters from Louisiana. While both were enjoyable, the PEI oysters stole the show with their remarkable flavor and freshness. As connoisseurs of oysters, we were thoroughly impressed.
However, the true winner of our appetizer selection was the Maryland Crab Cake, also available as an entree. ATTENTION MARYLANDERS: Let me tell you, this was the best Maryland Crab Cake we have ever tasted! My Fiancé is a Southern Maryland native and she was the one that made that statement! With an impressive 98% crab meat and minimal filler, each bite was a delectable delight that left us yearning for more. The exceptional quality and authentic flavor made it an absolute standout.
For our main courses, my Fiancé enjoyed the Salmon dish, which was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. As for myself, I indulged in the Maryland Lump Crab fettuccine, and I must say it was a culinary masterpiece. The combination of succulent crab meat and perfectly cooked fettuccine created a harmonious blend of flavors that exceeded all expectations.
Beyond the exquisite food, I couldn't help but appreciate the attention to detail in the restaurant's decor. Even the exposed ventilation pipes were painted a complementary tan color to match the overall color scheme, showcasing the establishment's commitment to providing a visually pleasing dining environment.
In conclusion, my experience at the Rusty Scupper was nothing short of exceptional. The attentive service, spearheaded by our wonderful waitress Emily, set the tone for a truly memorable evening. The food was a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs, with each dish surpassing our highest expectations in both taste and artistic presentation.
If you're looking for an outstanding dining experience in Baltimore Harbor, I wholeheartedly recommend the Rusty Scupper. It's a place where the staff's dedication to service excellence and the culinary delights on offer come together to create a truly unforgettable experience. We are already planning to come back for our...

It has parking, but you have to pay and go through a gate. Our Uber driver was unaware that you can drive in and drop off without being charged so he stopped at the gate and we had to walk from the street. Not a problem, just something to be aware of.
The restaurant is nice inside with gorgeous views of the harbor at night with the lights reflecting off the water. Lots of window tables and because of the very large windows all tables have good views.
The food was very good, some unique dishes like the grilled Spanish octopus. Excellent flavor, has hummus and small sprinkles of chorizo sausage and lemon aioli. Seemed a bit odd combination at first, but was very good…would recommend it!
We all ordered seafood, and all were very good flavor again, with different ways you can order them such as Asian or Maryland style. The fish portions were very large, almost too much for a normal meal. Had we ordered more than the 1 shared appetizer it would have been too much food. Also one of us ordered scallops, this was excellent and a normal sized portion, but comes with nothing else, so ordered a side of grilled asparagus and this made a perfect sized meal, although the asparagus was a bit tough and chewy.
A couple items distracted from the experience. The first being there are heater vents at arm level around the entire outside of the restaurant by each window table that were pouring out hot air the whole time. For the two of us seated near the windows, it literally baked us on one side…no way to stop the heat, very uncomfortable. Had to swap seats during the meal because we were so hot. Might be different in the summer, but really uncomfortable with the heat full on in the winter.
The other issue was our waiter, who just went way over the top attempting to portray himself as a smarmy waiter at a high end restaurant. Things like “so…have any of us dined at this establishment before?” and “would we like to consider something to sip on while we contemplate our dinner choices.” Sorry…not impressed, especially since he didn’t really do a great job, took drink orders for the two of us who knew what we wanted, but never came back to take the drink orders for the other two. Even when bringing the drinks, he turned and walked off, and we had to call him back for the other drink orders. Also had to flag him down a couple times during the meal as he did not check to see how things were after bringing our food…did not enjoy having him wait on us at all. A really good waiter is aware of what is going on at your table and shows up at the right times when needed.
So with the inability to get away from the heater when sitting by the window and the smarmy waiter, can’t give this place a great rating. Beautiful views and good food, but not enough to rate this restaurant any higher.
Would I go back…probably not, will try one of the many other places around the harbor next time.
Would I recommend…maybe, just be aware of the window table heat issue and...
Read moreSo Ive had dinner here on a weeknight and participated in thier Sunday Brunch. Two very different experience which is why I think this resturant isnt rated 5 star all day, everyday.
WEEKNIGHT DINNER: The meal we had during the week night was exceptional. I mean like, so dang delicious I didnt know what to do with myself. Best grilled fish id ever eating, that miso soy is unforgettable. The 18yr scotch, so yummy. We spent 2.5 hours eating thru several courses and many drinks. If u want the best dessert you have ever eaten, order the butter cake with strawberries. Im going to dream about that cake and when I visit here again, i will be returning here for a meal. The service was fantastic as well. Like seriously top notched. It wasnt crowded either on a Thursday night.
BRUNCH: Then sunday, again, our server was tremendous. But this was a completely different experience. Price was, Sunday brunch was 4 times cheaper then what we spent during the week. So I kinda expected a different experience. Granted, $52 per person definitely isnt cheap. Though, id day so worth it for the bottomless alcoholic beverages. Which I enjoyed. Lots of food options and a few different areas to get food. Its a shorter eating experience. Only 90mins to eat all you can. Which is short for me, I generally sit and eat for over 2 hours when dining experiences, especially those with water views, are relatively expensive. It was crowded. Lots of waiting to get food. I skipped the omelet station all together because of the line. While our server was wonderful, the gentlemen at the waffle station and carving station seemed very unhappy to be there. The waffle guy was standing there with his eyes literally rolling up into his head looking gone. Spacey for real. Kinda weird. But to each his own. There was some great food served, smoked salmon and salmon with eggplant was delicious. The waffles were good. The carving meat got cold but still tasty, the au jus was delicious. Not a fan of the scrambled eggs, way to wet. But I personally dont like wet eggs. I didnt like the seafood mac and cheese either. All and all, a great buffet cause buffets are hard to do well and it was great.
But overall between my two experience, my quiet dinner on thursday was by far superior. The chef/owner has gift and skill with food which really stands out. But brunch was still good. But Im not sure Id repeat it but only because of the crowds the food and drinks were great. The resturant is 5 stars. All day. They may need to make some improvements in thier process for brunch to truly replicate the superior quality and function of their usual resturant hours into thier brunch experience but both experience where worth their cost and delicious...
