KKatie's Burger Bar Hyannis — Restaurant in Barnstable

TLDR; The food is great, service is lovely, but the value is something to be desired. Read on for details.

I’ve loved KKatie’s for many years and was psyched to see them offering a half-off gift card on Cape Cod Daily Deal. However, when we visited this time after not having dined for about a year, we were surprised at some of the changes associated with them becoming an “upscale” burger bar.

To start, the service as always was excellent. The young man who was managing that evening is part of the family that owns the chain of restaurants, and he took great care of us along with the waitress. There’s no issues there at all.

We have always loved their burgers (what’s not to love?) and that they have low carb options. We started with the onion rings, which were just okay; not to worry because we were excited about the burgers. The portion size was a little small for a $10 order. They were good but not great.

We ordered three burgers which were excellent and each got curly fries, tots, and green fries. While they were delicious I don’t believe the $3 upcharge was worth it. My mom asked for a side of ranch for her fries and we later saw she was charged $2 for it… pretty unexpected, she wouldn’t have asked if she had known it was an upcharge. So, by the time we picked our burgers and sides, it was upwards of $20-23 each— seemed pretty steep for what we got.

All in all, three burgers, an app, no alcohol.. we were looking at a bill of $75. Thank God we had a $25 gift card from CCDD because without that, the price would’ve been laughable. For the prices I can’t imagine coming here with a large family especially in peak season. We sat down and the girl pretty much said sit where ever you like we sat outside because it was a nice night. Which at the time seemed great but it took the girl 20 minutes just to get our drink order. Most of the time we are pretty accommodating we get that no one's perfect. But we didn't get our drinks for another 20 minutes. And we were getting hungry obviously so when she came back we put our orders in they weren't hard all I asked for was no onions on mine and my friend asked just for a cheese burger. We wait another 45 mins. Get our food and got everything wrong but I couldn't say anything because I couldn't find her and we just felt forgotten. it was a Sunday night and there was barely 20 people in the whole place and not one did she ask how we were doing even when we got our food and for the money I paid my friend was disappointed by the burger she even ate some of mine cuz mine was better and I had to go in and pay for the check myself because I was just irritated with the wait of this service and just wanted to leave and the person at the bar rung me out and I left not very impressed with the service but the burgers were very good still upset with...

On my first visit to this restaurant, I ordered the mushroom garlic quarter pound burger with caramelized onions, American cheese, and shallot mayo. I requested the burger without a bun, but for an upcharge, I added an order of curly fries. I found the burger slightly greasy for my taste, and understand that this may be due to the fact that burgers are cooked on a flat top griddle rather than an open flame. However, the flavors were good and the shallot mayo was a nice compliment to the other ingredients. The high point though was the order of curly fries. They were crisp and hot when delivered and they stayed crisp to the end of the meal. With some added salt and ketchup, the generous portion was thoroughly enjoyed. My wife ordered some coleslaw and had me take a taste. Exceptionally crunchy and fresh, although the slaw could have benefited from more acid from vinegar or pineapple juice to balance the mayo.
