Fish and Chips fails all around. This was our 3rd visit to Spankys and somehow each visit just underwhelmed the visit before. I am a native of Newton Massachusetts, but have been living in Indianapolis for many years. All of my family still lives here so we make a trip here every summer to visit relatives and enjoy the cape. When we 1st visited Spankys in 2014, it was outstanding. However , ****Came again right after COVID and all our waitress could do is tell us is how exhausted she is because no one wants to work. Really, the only thing I remembered was the 2- 3 hour old baked potato I was served. This year we have extra guests with us and tried to give Spankys another try.., wrong choice. Service : Sub Par Food : Sub Par Price : overpriced for food quality The restaurant has a great location ( right on the harbor) , but shouldn’t be the reason everything else is a compromise. It took the server 11 minutes to acknowledge after being seated. Fresh rolls were served promptly (a good start), The server brought waters to everyone and then took drink order, I was the only 1 drinking . She did return promptly to take our dinner order, appetizers arrived and no utensils , later entrees followed ( again, still no utensils) , I finally got up and asked one of the “bussers” for 7 sets of silverware so we could eat, lol The shrimp and other entrees were good with the exception of the fish and chips. The person who ordered it said was very “mealy “ and gel like, breading soggy and no taste. After finally getting the attention of a server , we brought it to their attention and the response was, “ I’ll get your waitress..” Our waitress did come over and again brought to her attention., she immediately responded flatly “all of our seafood is fresh daily “ hmm. .. was that really the answer ? Not. The guest who made the complaint actually is a co owner of a restaurant in the Midwest, and told the waitress she won’t eat it and to get her a menu. A fried calamari was ordered in place of the fish and chips and was average at best. No apologies, no manager response whatsoever. Anyway , the best part of the experience for me was the prompt and great service at the bar when I ordered a drink while waiting for a table. I’m sure it would have been 100 times better if we ate at the bar. !

In conclusion, there are SO many amazing places to dine on cape cod.

5. The Landfall (Woods Hole) Just to name a few, so spend your hard earned (or not) at these locations if you want to walk away with a memorable experience!
