Here’s the 411 on this place. It’s very unassuming and a local dive for a mainly older crowd. It’s nothing fancy but clean and organized. The side dishes are average to good but that’s where “ordinary” ends. The things that set this establishment apart begins with the friendly people that work here. It’s very family-like and the service is timely. They seat you with hush puppies and once they hit your pallet your tastebuds will instantly be sent into overdrive,..they’re really good. Of course you’ll probably order the catfish, which comes out quickly, and shame on you if you don’t. It’s light, flaky and pure deliciousness! My accompanying butterfly shrimp were no joke either. I had the gumbo once before and it was definitely as advertised. I’m giving this mom and pop place 5 stars for an overall great experience that is priced in such a way that you could afford to eat here several times a week. First I will say that the toddlers high chairs was so full of gunk that I would think they have not been cleaned in a very long time. Same can be said about the salt and pepper shakers. Seeing wait staff sitting tells me they have time to clean these items. Sad that they would want little ones to sit in that. The service was great as the lady was very nice. The grilled catfish was the worse I have ever tried eating. Yes, this is not been dramatic. It was old stale freezer burnt taste. I tried with 3 bites to eat it and I couldn't stomach it. My daughter had the same and had the same reaction. My mother also had it and was able to force herself to eat a bit of it. I am shocked it was this bad after reading other reviews. I'm really sorry but I could not recommend this place to others. Maybe other entrees are better but I wouldn't suggest ordering the grilled fish. Just ordered food there I told the server I wanted the all you can eat catfish he read my order back to me, but when my order came out it was not catfish it was tasteless white fish, I told them I was not paying for something I didn't order, the manager came out of the kitchen and instead of making a compromise he got an attitude and said I ordered it I was paying for it,so we left, I paid with a hundred and he tried to keep the change my wife started saying we came from Colorado to eat at this restaurant and have never had a problem like this, and he was rude to her and my daughter aswell. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
