This is not about the food. Tio Javi’s is the most impressive collection of unprofessional management, it is truly a sight to behold. After interviewing with two managers, who both indicated that they wanted to move forward, they told me to come the day after, Thursday, to interview with the third who would make the decision. Thursday, I go and interview. Once again, he indicates he wants to move forward, saying, “I just have to talk to the other two and work with them to get you on the schedule for training. I’ll give you a call tomorrow so we can work you in.” Friday came and went, then Saturday. No call. Sunday morning, the person I was referred by texts me saying that they’ve decided they aren’t going to hire me. I asked him if they ever planned on calling me to let me know, he said they weren’t. It’s now Wednesday today and still no call. Thank you guys for completely wasting my time and completely lying and then dealing with the situation like actual teenagers. It is amazing you all have made it this far and it will not surprise me when Tio Javi’s fails because of management. Good luck keeping employees. Care to know the reason why they aren’t hiring me? Because they said it’s a problem I work a second job, which I understand. However we had discussed all of that very thoroughly, so I have a hard time believing that was the only reason. I was also told they had a problem because, “I said I wanted to work 7 days a week.” I never said that. I said I would happily be with them for the weekends and then i’d work two days a week at the other job. Well to them that’s 7 days a week… I understand wanting someone who’ll be dedicated to the restaurant, however I have bills to pay and i’m not gonna just be on call for people who very obviously do not care about the people they hire. I guess I didn’t realize when being hardworking was a bad thing 🤨 Probably wouldn’t apply here if I were you, I can imagine if they do that to potential employees, they’ll have no problem doing so to actual ones. Have a wonderful day! Don’t waste time on...
Read moreI’ll start with the positive…The service is nothing short of amazing at the bar area. The bar tender was very attentive, kind and offered suggestions. The negatives….the food and premade margaritas. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was boiled with no flavor, it’s almost as if the cook was rushed and just wanted to save time so he boiled already fully cooked shrimp. It was incredibly rubbery and and smelled very very strongly of seafood which is pretty much the result of over boiling and letting sit in standing warm or hot water (just water and nothing else). They do use fresh vegetables but they too aren’t seasoned in anyway. They have like an avacado green sauce to go with it. It too lacked much flavoring. Just think about the many Gordon Ramsay episodes where he would order seafood shrimp dishes and discover they were boiled l, flavorless and rubberized. I ate as much as I could stomach because I hadn’t eaten all day. So like a taco and a half and rice and beans. The rice and beans tho were good. You could tell their charro beans were cooked and seasoned very well. You could taste the traditional seasonings and the onions, tomato’s and other veggies cut up and added. The rice was full of flavor too. So if I ever go back, which will not be the case, I’ll only order their rice, beans and chips and salsa. Their margaritas are made with a low end type of tequila which does not go down smooth, very brittle. I suppose some may love that, I like dessert tequilas because I enjoy the taste of the other things like fresh squeezed lime and the Addison of other fruits like strawberry and stuff like that so I didn’t enjoy...
Read moreWent to Tio Javi's tonight and was extremely disappointed in virtually every aspect of the dining experience. This is not the first time I have been since they changed the name/management but it will certainly be the last time, which saddens me after eating in that building for over a decade as Ninfas. The majority of food came quickly so that aspect was fine. I am on a diabetic diet while I am pregnant and requested corn tortillas from the beginning, which didn't come out until 10 minutes after the meal was served to us. Reminding the waiter twice seemed to make no difference. Not that I was exactly thrilled about making a fajita with the 7 strips of meat that came with our 23 dollars fajitas. The steak was good, the chicken looked and tasted like the frozen bag of Tyson strips. Then after waiting 10 minutes to start my meal, I requested pechugas gravy for my meat to make it more moist. I kind of thought that since the tortillas took a ridiculous amount of time to make it to the table the gravy would be on the house but our bill arrived with an extra charge for the pechugas.
Finally, the restrooms were in sub par condition. It was terrible. The floors were sticky all over, my shoes stuck to them as I walked. The counter tops also had water all over them. Small things, but issues that could be easily reconciled if someone just botherd to pop their head in and check on the small space... Pretty much ready to write this...
