We went to W.H. Ales after getting to H20âs and finding out they were closed. First time any of us had been there.
Our party of 6 sat down at 5:45. SOME of our food came out at 7:30. The rest of it 10 minutes later.
While waiting, drinks and the waitress were in short supply. Never really saw her. I actually asked for 2 refills of Coke, because I knew she wouldnât be back anytime soon. She couldnât control the kitchen, but she sure could control our drinks. When getting our checks, everyone had at least 1 thing they didnât order on it.
Once we got the food, things were missing. They had to remake them. They never arrived before we were done. The wood fire pizza was drenched in grease and was soft. Not how a wood fire pizza should be. Someone referred to the shrimp as âcorn dog shrimpâ and the waffle fries tasted the exact same.
The chicken wings like a lot of other foods and restaurants did not look like the picture. Why do so many places skimp on the sauce? Plus, they were nothing special. Can 100% find better wings almost anywhere else.
They ran out of bottle Coors Light. Same for canned Blue Moon but they had some in the basementâŚnot sure if they were going to be cold or not.
We got 3 appetizers. Pot stickers, cheese curds, and a jumbo pretzel. The pot stickers were soft, the cheese curds were sitting in oil.
At some point someone asked how long this place had been open. A year almost on the nose. We were stunned. By now, all the kinks should be well ironed out. Very very disappointing.
I could POSSIBLY get behind this experience if the place was packed, but it was less than 50% full.
Hard to find anything good to say, but the pretzel is quite large and soft. The cheese cheese curds that werenât sitting in oil were by far the best thing out of everything. Take that with a grain of salt.
I ran into a buddy of mine that worked there on the way out. I told him about everything and he said that itâs the usual. Yikes.
Overall, this was a huge waste of our Sunday evening, and money. Iâm sure Iâm forgetting things, but if you arenât convinced by now not to come here, then youâll never be. I canât speak for everyone, but I know weâll...
Read moreAte here yesterday, Sunday. When we arrived there was only a table of six in the entire place. We were a table of 3. It took over an hour and a half from the time we ordered to the time our food came. When our orders did come only 2 of us were served our order. They said the kitchen âforgotâ to make the 3rd entree. Total time spent at this restaurant was approx 2.5 hours from the time we entered to the time we left. Thank goodness we had the time to spare at the convenience of this restaurant! We were told that the problem was with the kitchen. The wait staff did a great job! Situations like this put the wait staff in a tough spotâŚ.they are working for tips and extreme delays like this typically get taken out on them by the customers by low tipping. The owner needs to be sure they are never in that position. The table of 6 arrived before we did and they received their food just before us, they waited longer than we did! The food and drinks were great, we felt it matched the pricing and atmosphere. BUT, the kitchen proficiency was horrible. Owners should take better care of the front end staff by getting the kitchen delay in check. This was our first time here. Not sure how service typically is. The staff was quick to want to comp usâŚwe always try NOT to accept comps, we like supporting local restaurants and never want to âtakeâ. With that said, W.H. Ales needs to address this issue because what you cannot comp me is my time. Situations like this create stress for staff and customers. From what we understand this is a Sunday issue for the restaurant due to scheduling/staffing. Please fix. Overall great food, we...
Read moreWe were camping at the state park and stopped in for a drink to try it out on Friday July 19th early in the afternoon. The place seemed like a very nicely done brewery and obviously newer. We were seated right away because they were not busy at the time, the staff was very personable. When we were ready to order our beers the waitress informed us that several of the beers weren't available after I told her what I wanted. She said that their fermenter was down for about a week prior & they were still trying to get back up with their selections ( no big deal, things happen). So my daughter & wife ordered a beer that the waitress recommended and said it was pretty fruity & very good, (sounded good to them). Well they were absolutely undrinkable! Tasted like rotting grapefruit, we were guessing something still wrong with their equipment. Waitress was extremely nice & asked if they wanted something different, well yeah! My daughter only took I drink, my wife managed to drink about 4 sips & I tried it & was like no way that's right. So my daughter just got a Mic. Ultra, & my wife had lost any thought of getting anything else. So we drank what we had & got the bill. We were still charged $7 each for the nasty beers that were still sitting virtually untouched on the table! I know I should have said something about it or asked to talk to someone in charge but we just wanted out of there at that point and were kind of in shock that we were charged for them honestly. SO DISAPPOINTED. I hope they make it but our visit was truly disappointing and don't know if when we visit our Bay City kids again that we...
