Went there with a friend on a whim after taking a day trip from New Orleans. We wanted to sit outside and had a great table with great people watching. Drinks were good and service was friendly and accommodating. The food however was terrible and overpriced. We should have known when we asked for menus and were referred instead to a chalkboard on the side of the building. Understandable since they'd just reopened post-lockdown, but they didn't hesitate to hand us a drink menu when we asked for one of those. I ordered a piece of tuna priced at 21 bucks that was hardly seasoned. It came with a side salad (mostly iceberg hamburger lettuce shavings, but at least I was able to use my leftover dressing to season the fish) and another side of my choosing. Options were limited and I wanted to stay on the healthy side, so I chose the corn - which was literally two pieces boiled still on the cob with no seasoning whatsoever, akin to prison or cafeteria food, not even buttered. My friend ordered the Shrimp Scampi and was equally disappointed since it had no flavor. She had to request parsley and cheese just to give it a kick. My friend is more outspoken than I am, who was content enough to write this review instead of complain to our server. But we are two different people so she complained about how the food was terrible (that very word, same as mine at the top.) Of course she was nice about it, as nice as could be, and was complimentary on the drinks and the service before getting to the bit about the terrible food. Our server happened to also be the manager, and she graciously offered to charge her only for a side of shrimp and not for the entree she had ordered. I sat beside her aghast and silently fuming because I was just as disappointed in my meal, in the lack of flavor, and the fact that I was about to drop 37 bucks on this nonsense when I could have spent the same on dinner and drinks in a fine dining establishment that would have left me dreaming about it. But I didn't want to be rude and make this woman deal with two dissatisfied customers instead of one, especially since there was another table within earshot of us. So, in short, I paid way too much for the most disappointing meal I've had all year (given the odds of course that we've been quarantined, though I doubt it makes a difference in this case.) I'm talking fine dining prices for sides of shredded iceberg lettuce and cafeteria corn. Perhaps the quality of the food here was compromised because they've just reopened post-COVID lockdown and the kitchen is starting to find its way back. This was my first time here so I cannot say. If that's the case, it would be nice if prices were adjusted accordingly or if other items were left off the menu entirely until quality bounces back. They should probably just stick to po-boys and such for the time being since oysters aren't even on the menu right now (and the place calls itself an Oyster Bar.) But if the level of quality I experienced is the standard here: there really is no excuse. I was totally fine to splurge that day, but not for what I got. The seating out front is nice though and the drinks and service were good. 2 stars instead of 1 for...
Read moreI visited Cuz's for lunch about 12:50 on Wednesday. The hostess took our order. She asked what I wanted. I said and she repeated a shrimp on bun plain, a shrimp poboy dressed on the side and a fried shrimp salad. She asked what kinda dressing would I like she said they didn't have Caesar so I got Ranch 10 minutes later she brings the CHECKS. The food didn't come until 45 minutes after that. Then she picks up the money and gives us the bags. The poboy and shrimp on bun was dressed and had probably 8 shrimp on the large bun. There was no salad SHE DIDN'T WRITE IT DOWN.! So mad but hungry I sent the one plate back and when she realized she didn't order my salad the bartender now former hostess offered to RING THAT UP FOR ME. ARE YOU SERIOUS? But I said yeah I'm hungry. So she takes the sandwich and goes to the kitchen. Comes back and goes behind the bar. Another waitress brought out the sandwich (running over with shrimp) while she was at the bar. NO F'ING SALAD. Only one plate so I knew that she didn't place my order for the second time. So she proceeded to come say did you want me to order that salad for you it won't take long they always frying shrimp. I could've flipped the table over. Was it a RACE thing? How could you ask me what kind of dressing IF YOU WASN'T WRITING DOWN THE ORDER. Perhaps you were too busy talking about about your coworker with the other waitress. Also Cuz's if the hostess is going to be responsible for the bar too; there should be more than 2 waitresses on duty. The icing on the cake, the food was BLAND AND ALL OF OUR SHRIMP WAS COLD. It was a HORRIBLE experience. Will...
Read moreWorst restaurant experience my family and I have ever had. Got there at 1245 was told the kitchen was kind of slow due to new staff due to corona virus. First thing our waitress does is bring our drinks and brings me a bigger cup and says she brought me that one because she could tell I would drink a lot and didn’t want to run back and forth. Ordered 2 appetizers and 4 entrees. At 145 we haven’t seen our waitress to this point and she finally refills our drink. At 2 she brings our appetizer and tells us our food will be our shortly at 230 she brings some complimentary gumbo which we didn’t want. At 245 we finally get our entrees. We eat our food which was bland at best. This entire time at least 7 parties came after us got there food which was some of the same food we ordered “poboy” ate and left. To top things off the owner came over towards the end to ask how we were. We told them not to good we had been there over two hours and a lot of people came after us had came and went. All he had to say was he was “sorry” that he had a mess in the back due to not finding workers during virus. He was laughing, could act like he care less. Didn’t offer to take something off our ticket or anything. Don’t waste your time here. Decent food,...
