This was our first time here and we loved it! We always walk past and see the bar super busy. I think they have happy hour until 6.
I saw on their instagram they have 15% of food on certain days in august so we thought it would be the perfect time to go. Even without the 15% off prices are super reasonable for the quality and portions. They even have a $30 pre fixe menu during the week and until 4 on the weekends where you can get an app, main and dessert.
There are a lot of freebies with the meal too. They start you off with bread, butter, olive oil and this tomato sauce that is really unique and sweet and delicious. Then during the meal they give you for free a side of either fried croquettes or green beans and carrots. We got the green beans and carrots and they were very good. Then after the meals they have us for free a shot of cognac and pineapple juice, very nice to top off the meal.
The service is excellent. All the little things they think of really elevates the experience. And they show you the specials on an iPad so you can see pictures of them. Between courses they clean crumbs off the tablecloth. There is a beautiful fish tank. It’s a very nice experience. The music choices where kind of interesting though, when we got there they were playing pop songs which didn’t really go with the mood of the place but then they switched to classics, they also played phantom of the opera. My husband described some of the music as songs you would hear at your wake. Which sounds funny and it is, but it does make sense if you heard it.
I got the fettuccine Alfredo with breaded chicken on top. The Alfredo sauce is light and not overly thick or cheesy which I liked. It was very balanced and still flavorful. Also the fettuccine is homemade fresh! And you can taste it. Very good. Lots and lots of broccoli and mushrooms in it as well. I had to take half of it home. My husband got the sea bass special which he really liked. $45 was not a bad price at all for the amount of fish on his plate.
We would definitely...
Read moreWe went in for lunch and had the 25 Pre fixed menu. Which includes 1 app, 1 entree & 1 dessert pp We sat at the bar for a casual quick meal. The bread was served first with butter and a small dish of some kind of tomato compote which was a nice start. I did not enjoy the tomato dish (I found it bland) but my bf really liked it. (I would just suggest toasting the bread it was warm but chewy like it was microwaved) He ordered the ravioli (app) and it came with a lite pomodpr sauce. I ordered the pasta fagioli soup & we shared them. Both dishes were very good. For the main I ordered Flounder Florentine (Francaise over spinach) There was a good amount of sauce and plenty of spinach. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. Bf ordered Chick Piccatta (plentybof sauce and capers which we bith love) it was served with crispy polenta croquettes and sautéed veggies and was also delicious; but that crispy polenta was something we had never had before and they were absolutely amazing!! I would order just those as an appetizer/side dish if it was possible!! We were too full to finish our meals and took the rest of our meals and 2 tiramisu to go. We enjoyed everything we ate! Which is most important! The service was good. Young lady behind the bar was friendly and attentive and the bus boy was on top of clearing. I guess my only critique would be to perhaps play Italian or even jazz as backround music, we felt the constant christian music was kind of out of place for a restaurant and non-denominational music would have been much more enjoyable. Other than the bread and music...this was a great spot and I highly...
Read moreBest Italian in bayonne. This is fine dining , so you are paying for quality over quantity. Their custard polenta is one of a kind and amazing and cheap. They give you those with garlic sauted veggies in each order. The best deal is the pre fixe menu. You get an app, entree and dessert for 30 bucks. They are the only Italian joint that makes eggplant rollantini right that I've found too. Their chck parm is good and they aren't smothered in fake cheese like other places close by do with their food. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the clams and found them chewy. Their cannoli cream is my #2 fave after Callandras bakery in West Caldwell. It's not gummy like bad cannolis that use too much powdered sugar or whipped cream filled like the pizzas place nearby., but it seems like they make it authentic with ricotta salata, but I don't know for sure, u just know they are good. If you are tired of ordering Italian food only to find it's huge portions of poor quality ingredients and are willing to be ppl at more to get quality, you should stop by this place. Only downside is they do Not deliver. I have to order via Uber eats which is 2x as expensive as it actually is. Please add a to go ordering system at the...
