Sub Base — Restaurant in Bayonne

New name, same great crew and taste!

My order: a best sub w/ extra vinegar. (Ham, cappicola, prosciuttini, salami, and provolone.)

Delivery time: 30-45 minutes

Quality/taste: The deli meats, cheese, and bread were fresh and were delicious in culmination. Perfect clash of flavors.

Value: Extremely affordable especially for the size of the sub. I was pleasantly surprised.

Customer service: The crew here are Bayonne natives and are super friendly. They interact and know their regulars as well as welcome new first timers.

I haven't been here in many many years. Yesterday was the first time. My boyfriend and I each got sandwiches, I got a honey turkey sub with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, vinegar and mayo. While the sandwich was good, I woke up with horrible food poisoning. And I know it's from the sandwich because I didn't eat anything else that day. All through the night and today I've had horrible liquid stool, a sharp pain in my lower intestines, slight nausea, and a major headache. Safe to say I won't eat here again. EDIT: It's been 8 hours of torture and just found out that there's a bad listeria...

Moved to Bayonne last spring, have been to Sub Base a few times and their sub sandwiches are really good. Good amount of meat and extras all the time. I pay cash to avoid the surcharge for using a credit card. I didn't know there was a Blimpie's there previously so can't attest to how they were BUT Sub Base is good. Macaroni salad is good enough, not too fond of the slaw or potato salad, just a bit too bland (thus the 4 stars and not 5). But I do recommend them if you're looking for a good...
