So first off, I'm Asian. Some people are connoisseurs of certain foods, I am a connoisseur of salt and pepper squid in the Portland metro area. My father's been here since 1979. I moved here permanently in 1995. My mission is to find the best salt and pepper squid anywhere.

The best in the Portland area has to be a certain spot if you know it on Sandy boulevard. Story has it that the cook that knows the secret recipe shared it with a relative who then tried to open his own spot down Sandy boulevard. Mysteriously that didn't work out for him. Now, all I'm saying is that the recipe was so good that people from as far as Seattle and California would drive to eat it. It's still probably one of the top in all of Pacific Northwest. This isn't speaking from just the Asian community but also the community as a whole. Then I found this food cart.

This food cart makes some of the best salt and pepper squid around next to the place on Sandy boulevard. The portions are just enough to make you want to order two. They're that good. The guys are cool, the salt and pepper squid is bomb, and the prices are much more reasonable.

Highly highly recommend this place for salt and pepper squid. Now the shrimp is pretty good, the meat is pretty good, and so is the Mac. But, I would definitely go here strictly for the salt and pepper...

I truly wanted to like this cart. I really like salt and pepper shrimp. I got half squid and half shrimp. The squid was over cooked and very chewy. I took it home so maybe it was a function of driving home. Also the seasoning was really light. Salt and pepper dishes I have had in the past were highly seasoned…with salt and pepper. Also they have always had jalapeño rings in the dish which add some heat to compliment the salt and pepper. Maybe this is a different dish than what I’ve had in the past. My favorite is from R and G Lounge in San Francisco. Possibly not a fair comparison. I’ll try it again when I’m going to eat there to see if the squid is not...

See you can always tell when a place is REAL when it has good reviews, and you can't mf find it on the dam maps! I'm sitting here bro looking at the spot where I know that it is because I was there hours ago. Stupid maps tryna play games always.
