It was just another Friday. Traffic that's nothing to stress about until you realize you've moved an entire mile in the last 10 minutes. The rain relentlessly poured over the city. An answer to the prayers of many who were seeking a cleanse of bad decisions. Though others felt temporary comfort from the falsities of this idea, I found the only thing cleansed was my Honda Civic. A numbing gaze over a sea of red lights muddled my brain. Lost for a moment, my mind snapped back to reality, thanks to the suit in the blacked out Mercedes behind me. I inched forward. So did the Mercedes. A sudden feeling of walls closing in began to boil under the surface of a Mom who always kept her cool. The exit home still sat miles ahead. A distance I couldn't fathom enduring. With my spirit beginning to sink, a beacon of hope illuminated on my GPS. An international symbol of energy, motivation, and a Friday night lasting longer than 9PM. The little Coffee cup sat just beyond the closest exit, and it called to me. I didn't hesitate to reroute as my new destination awaited my arrival. Only minutes away from where I sat decaying in traffic stood a curious building. A quick eye would miss that this shop has a coffee shop situated around its corner. The name, painted in black, confirmed I wasn't lost. Thornton Coffee, along with an arrow, directed me where to go. I parked my car and found my way around the corner. The all-consuming aroma of freshly ground coffee slipped gracefully from the open walk-up window and into my nose. A sensation of precise flavors & exotic notes danced within me as my mind drifted beyond the here & now. As I approached the window, my heart fluttered as I realized there's no line. A latte, being my usual at any coffee shop, somehow seemed insipid today. A quick glance at the shops menu was all it took. "An 8oz Spicy Mexican Mocha, please." The gentleman, kind and quick, processed my payment and began his Java wizardry. As I waited, my attention was held by the fresh bags of single origin grounds displayed for purchase. A fiery debate sparked internally as the Guatemalan seemed to call out my name. My impulses quickly shift as I hear, "8oz Mexi Mocha". I thank the man as he handed me the small paper cup. A beautiful foam design adorned the top of the drink, a sudden desire to capture its beauty took over as a snap a shot with my phone. Drops of rain fell over me, an attempt to remind me of my daily woes as I shuffled back to my car. As I settle in, hiding from the rain, ripples of anxiety and stress begin to seep back in. A deep breath left my lungs just before I lifted the drink to my lips. With a single sip, warm velvety chocolate drifted beyond my stomach and deep into my soul. The bit of spice left clinging to my tongue, I knew I had chosen today's drink correctly. In a moment of stress and 1st world despair, the universe led me here to gather myself before continuing on bravely as each of us did every day. Sometimes, a perfectly crafted coffee is all we need...

I've tried coffee from around the world. This is perfectly balanced, rich flavor which has been precisely roasted to account for the brewing heat and its impact on the ending flavor of the coffee!
They have whole bean coffee to go that's fresh, and several options that satisfy a varied palate. My bag was roasted only three days before pickup.
The pastries they serve are fresh and some incorporate the coffee flavoring as well. The options they offer are hand picked and pair well with the menu.
This place is definitely worth the stop and a gem that's quickly blossoming from its humble beginnings! I only wish they had a couple tables for stopping in with...
