On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina — Restaurant in Bedford

I have been disappointed by this location 2 times. The first time wasn’t TOO bad so my fiancé and I decided to give it one last chance last night. Worst decision ever. We had a very long day and decided Mexican food sounded great. We show up around 7:30 or earlier and they said our wait time was only 5 minutes. The hostess sat us down and we were greeted by a manager. We assumed they were short staff because he took our order and brought us water and chips. Well 30 minutes go by and no one came back to check on us. There was a server taking care of all of the tables around us and he passed us several times never checking on us. We didn’t have any water left and the chips were gone within the first 10 minutes of sitting at the table. We tried to waive down several servers as well as the manager and no one stopped to help us. We noticed that a couple that had been sat down after us were also not being helped. They left some money for their appetizers and decided to leave. They waited at the front counter to let someone know and no one was around so they left. We just kept telling ourselves that “oh the food should be out soon” “we’ve been here this long the food should be out soon”. About 15 minutes went by and no one bussed the table or took the money the couple had left. We finally were able to waive down a server and my fiancé let him know that the guests had left and their money was sitting on the table. He said he would let the server know and left. We waited longer and longer and longer and soon it had been over an hour. All of the sudden we notice that the large table of people who were next to us (who had been seated may 15 minutes ago,) received their food already... How could that be? Did they forget about us? We started to get flustered and found a waitress and asked her to check on our food. She came back to let us know that the order must not have been put in. We had been waiting so long that we did not want to go anywhere else and wait even longer. We did not get our food until shortly after 9pm. The fact that after the manager assisted us he did not assign another server to us was unacceptable, the fact that not one server who passed us dozens of times over the course of an hour and a half did not check on us was unacceptable, the fact that we didn’t get any food for an hour and a half was unacceptable. The manager came out after the waitress found him and told him to check with us, he apologized and said that dinner was on them and it was his fault that the order did not get put in. After we ate we just wanted to get out and be done with the restaurant. The waitress came back and checked on us and gave us a bill for the 2 drinks we had, which in my opinion should have been covered as well for the awful time we have. But we didn’t say anything. We paid and we left. Thank you Linda (if I remember your name correctly) for being kind to us and asking what you could do after finding out what our night consisted of. My sister and I had the best experience ever! We had a very spontaneous day. We wore matching clothes got matching tattoos at the bearded moon tattoo shop and richard moon was hilarious, got matching nails done at BBs nail spa by Ben and they're super cute. Then as we're getting ready to leave we see a Mexican food place and since we couldn't see their menu we decided to go somewhere else! We ended up at this On the Border. Now keep in mind its not our first On the Border ever. We love the food in general and we always love the drinks. So it was a familiar yet spo taneous choice. Our waitress Katerina was fantastic and she quite literally topped our whole evening off and made some really great suggestions on the menu. It of course started off with A Texas Ranger Margarita. If your going for a drink you must try! Just as Katerina said even if it gets all mixed it tastes frikken great. The bartendress (i didnt catch her name) but she was also very delightful and friendly.

Obviously we had to get some bomb queso and chips cause duh... I mean, it's queso and it was good on everything! Lol my sister ordered tacos but I ordered the new burrito as a recommendation from Katerina and she was not joking it is amazing and it's big enough you can take some joke and have something adequate for lunch (sidenote: the burrito does have jalapeños so if your not a fan order without. I didn't know so I just picked them off.) And of course the rice and beans are always a great add.

The end of the night I had a little mishap with my card and my phone died so I had to run to my car while my sister stayed and I charged my phone up and transferred the money and came back in and ordered 2 more margaritas for my sister and I. And as we sit we tell the waitress, Katerina, that she seems like the perfect friend to keep around. Had she not been working, I would have made her sit with us and have a drink too cause we had a lot in common and she was just that easy going and funny and really nice to talk to. So we made a great friend out of it all. To think we were about to go else where. But im so glad we chose this place. They say that there's a reason for everything and I believe we ended up at that restaurant because even though we didn't know it at the time we were about to make a really great new friend and find our next go to hot spot for drinks! We will be returning soon to all of these places hungry for more crazy fun, great nails, amazing food, friendly smiles, and great hospitality! And don't forget to ask for Katerina cause she is awesome and you won't...

I would like to start by saying i have loved on the border from my earliest memories all the way to my 30s and never once had a complaint. Whether I went there by myself for a drink or with family or on a date they have never disappointed me, but they changed everything up without sayong anything or even updating the menus. The new salsa is disgusting. GROSS! Everything i order there i won't really enjoy without some kind of salsa and now the salsa they have is nasty.. what ever happened to if it ain't broke dont fix it? Not to mention the quality of meat on my fajita nachos went way down hill. Theyve changed drink recipes meal recipes and even the appetizers are not the same. The worst part is they dont even tell you. You figure it out when you bite into a bland mediocre all around sad excuse of a meal. Its not the workers faults but they ruined that whole chain of restaurants! Someone somewhere made a big mistake and im pretty sure im not the only one that feels this way.. I used to go every week and went yesterday for the first time in a month or 2 and ive never been more disgusted in my life at what is supposed to be a nice restaurant... there was a time when I would fight people over saying anything bad about my on the border, but yall lost a customer today. Good luck to you but yall ruined...
