It's been well over a year since I've been to a Firehouse Sub shop. But I had been eating at Firehouse Subs since 2012. I really liked that the subs are heavy, because they are loaded with meat. I think it's been a few days now, but the sub I got was so skimpy on meat that it was basically just bread. What really sucks is that I tipped them as well, 20%. I usually never tip but I was in a really good mood when I was checking out and instead of hitting the no tip option on the screen I hit the highest tip option. What a colossal mistake that was! Darn near $20 for what was basically bread and a few pieces of meat. And this type of thing isn't just Firehouse subs, it's everywhere. All of the fast food places. I have a policy I've been following for myself, for the last 6 months. When a food place gyps me on food, I consider it to be part of their standard operating procedures of how they put things together and how much product goes into the meal, and I simply won't go there again. Because it's not like somebody just screwed up. It's policy of the store that they put on a certain amount of meat, and I'm going to tell you this right now.... it was about half of what they usually put on. That is beyond someone making mistake and accidentally going 10% less or more than what they should have, this is obviously Firehouse Subs policy and I'm absolutely done with them. They have some of the higher prices when it comes to sub sandwiches, but it was because they were better and had more meat. Now that is no longer the case.
Also, the bread was very spongy because it was not toasted well enough. And it is the only time I have had a sub from Firehouse Subs that wasn't toasted enough.
The final nail in the coffin was how long it took. It must have been a good 15 minutes to make my sandwich and there was no one else in the store. I have a feeling that management here is prioritizing mobile orders which there were only two or three of them anyways, it's just..... I hate this place. I'll probably have Firehouse Subs in the future but I will never again go to this store. And I'm telling you all right now, do not go here. Are you traveling through Indiana and you want to stop at a firehouse subs? Go to another location.
Edit: after reading a bunch of the other one and two star reviews, I can see that this place has a big problem with its employees. And obviously management is terrible as well. Like I said, there are other stores. Stay away...
Read moreTo begin, one thing everyone needs to know is that a lot of businesses, like this one, subscribe to an automated service that generates 5-star reviews. In reality, they've never been to the business. I can guarantee you that the 5 star reviews for this Firehouse are fake. Secondly, I do commend the owner for having the courage to put his name and phone number on a card in the store. I went to this Firehouse on a Thursday at about noon for lunch. Had never been to a Firehouse. Scanned the menu and ordered. Noticed there were about 12 or so customers, all of whom seemed to be a little irritated. I soon learned why. I watched a very unmotivated, rude "manager", and 2 others who had obviously just started working there, yell at and abuse both customers and each other. I also watched them take various meats that had been cooked who knows how long ago, throw them in a microwave, and then charge the customer as much as Jersey Mike's for a sandwich that would have been bad for grocery store fast-food. At 17 minutes, and still no order up for me, I asked a woman who was in the store when I arrived how long she'd been waiting. She said she arrive about 5 minutes before me. 22 minutes and no order. When my disgusting "sandwich" finally came up, I took it and politely went to the cashier and asked for a refund. She said we don't give refunds. I told her "you do now." She screamed across the store that "this guy wants his money back." The reply, from the "manager", 'he'll wait until I'm damn good and ready. I'm busy now!" At this point, 2 others also asked for their money back. I did eventually get my refund & I called the owner. He seemed genuinely concerned but also young & inexperienced. Said he would "deal with it." Folks....there are very hardworking people out there at restaurants who deserve your business. This is NOT one of them! Don't risk your health at a dive like this. Move on down the road to the next merchant and help them survive. This Firehouse...
Read moreExperienced the worst customer service possibly ever today. I go in, place my order (receipt said it was 1:27). There were a few people ahead of me so I expected a good 15 minute wait which is completely fine. A couple of customers started getting antsy asking how long it was going to be. One gentleman asked for his money back because I assume he had been there a long time as well.
When the older gentleman started to ask for a refund the two employees (one said their name was chucky, the other I don't know the name of but was a white woman in her 40s-50s if I had to guess) started getting really rude and arguing with him about how online orders take precedent. Coming from the resturaunt industry, I understand people are picking those up to but if you can't handle the influx of orders on top of in store customers pause the online orders.
I decide to speak up because they way they were arguing with this man is unacceptable and I made the comment about how I get it but if you can't take the orders don't take them. I had been waiting over 30 minutes at this point. Chucky asked me if I wanted a refund. I said no, I just want my food. But I had a meeting at 2 and if I knew it was going to be that long then I would have just gone somewhere else.
After waiting another 10 minutes and continously listening to them both mumble under their breath but loud enough that I could hear about how ridiculous I was being I just decided to get a refund and leave. Didn't want to mention it but since the other lady thinks I was lying, I watched her scratch her ear, get on the floor to look at the soda machine, scratch her head, then put gloves on without washing her hands.
I understand being busy and getting behind on orders, but that is 1000% NOT the way you treat guests.
Bonus: as I was getting my refund my order wasn't even right. So If I continued to wait, my order would have been...
