Came here to celebrate the life of a dear family member. We wanted somewhere special that we have never been before. We were looking for an escape from the norm to reboot and recharge.

The atmosphere was mostly modern decor with some Japanese art on the front doors, waiting area up front, behind the Sushi Bar and the out walls. I personally prefer more where I feel like I am transported to another time and place.

The hostess seated us promptly and their was no wait as we arrived soon after they opened at 5 pm on a Friday. When she handed us our menus she pointed out the general categories for us to begin analyzing. The service from our waitress Shah was five stars and she seemed very knowledgeable and could talk in great details about every query we had.

The hot Green tea came with a pitcher where I was immediately able to refill my cup which I like to do. The house salad was simple but the ginger dressing was very good with only a hint of ginger which I prefer it stronger myself. Shah asked us what we thought about the dressing and said it was just freshly made which made me assume thy may be tweaking it based on responses. Even if not I love my waitress asking about my food because it makes me feel like they care about our experience and take pride in their hard work. The Sweet & Sour soup (house soup) was very flavorful I noticed while the mushroom was dancing on my pallet it was a perfect blend and balanced. Next was the main course of steamed white rice, Hibachi mixed vegetables (onions, zucchini, and mushrooms), bean sprouts, nine grilled medium sized shrimp and Teriyaki chicken. If you want to try this for yourself order the "Geisha Special" which are traditionally Japanese entertainers known for their skills in the art. In this context I interpete it as culinary art. The vegetables were great and the rice and sprouts were as one would expect.

Now for a few dissatisfactions. There was an unexpected longer than expected delay after we finished the house soup and salads. We didn't say anything but the waitress twice said it wouldn't be much longer. Her observations knew even while we remained silent that this was not good. It is not the waitresses fault if the kitchen is not ready no matter the reason. I felt frustrated by the situation and empathy for the waitress who was put in a very awkward position. She was dependant on another segment of Fujiyama and had to be the face of the restaurant to us the customer. Again she did more than her role and earned her tip with nothing withheld. When our order did finally arrive the portion size was more than I could eat and left with a to go box. The protein of shrimp and chick was neither bad nor good but just okay. Again this was a "special" on the menu and the price point reflects this too.

My expectations were higher than what was delivered from the kitchens timing and specialties. For these reasons I lowered my service rating to three stars where the hostess and waitress Shah deserved five stars. I also had to lower the food rating because of the above when the side items were worthy of a top rating. The atmosphere was rated on my personal preference and I understand for some it would be exactly what they want.

I would go back again but be more picky on what I ordered. Overall their were pros and cons which is what makes the...

I have had only dined in here twice. The first time I went I had taken my grandmother out to an early dinner here for both our birthdays. It was pretty empty in here but I thought it was fabulous. The food was amazing. The show was great and I thought the service was so great. I thought it was so great that when my Father-in-law came to visit us from out of state, this would have been the perfect place to take him out to dinner. Was I surely mistaken. I RSVPd online and when we got there I was trying to explain I had a reservation but was cut off with them saying there was a long wait. I finally was able to tell them we RSVPd online and we were able to sit. I honestly cant tell you who our waiter was because there was like 3 of them they came to our table. Which you wouldve thought would have given us an amazing experience but sadly I think it just confused everyone including themselves. When the first waiter asked if we wanted any appetizers, I asked for California rolls and egg rolls. I waited a good 20 minutes and a second waiter sat an older couple down at the table we were sitting at. The waiter placed their order of appetizers, chatted about following each other on tiktok and instagram and they waited maybe 7 minutes and they got their appetizers. This waiter started taking all of our orders for our main dish. I asked if they were going to come out with our appetizers. For which the response I got was "oh, yeah, so I can take an appetizer order if youd like and itll be about 20 minutes". By this time the chef is setting up to start our food. I said its fine, if the order wasn't put in when I ordered it the first time then there's no point in ordering now since hes about to cook our food. The whole interaction made me so upset to the point that I absolutely couldnt eat my food. I wasnt able to finish my salad or my soup. I just wanted to throw up. I was embarrassed and upset over the whole situation. The chef was amazing and very kind but the service from the waiters were absolutely terrible. I just wanted to have a good time with my FIL before he traveled back home. They did give me a free meal on my receipt because I know the chef knew I was upset but I will not ever get to make up that experience again. Also, as much as terrible service I got, I still gave them a tip but most of it went to my chef. I would recommend this place to others for their food but I would never recommend them for their service and I personally will not...

First time here as it was recommended by a friend. Had reservations for our son’s 4th birthday, so they sat all 15 of us in private room. We had two cooks one named Alex which was cooking for 12 of us and the other was Roy who cooked for the other 3 which were on the opposite side of us. Roy was excellent! He greeted us, introduced him self and asked the other 3 what we were all celebrating. He put on a great show and do we wish we he had just cooked for the whole party. Unfortunately Alex who cooked for the rest of us was no where near as friendly or entertaining. When he started he asked what we were celebrating, we told him and asked him to give us the best he had. He laughed and started to cook. For the amount we are paying at these places you expect entertainment as well as good food. When he finished the rice we asked when does our show start and he became upset and stated each cook does things their own way. I replied with well I expected a little something since that’s why we came here. You can tell he was upset which made it very tense, we continued to talk amongst our party when he aggressively stated you want a show started chopping vegetables and was like open your mouth to my 4 year old son which startled us and scared him and I immediately told him no and to stop which he responded then don’t complain you are not getting a show. I then got up and spoke to the manager and requested a different cook, unfortunately that could not be done the kitchen manager did not have cooks as it was busy but the manager then stood near the entry way to observe the cook because I told them I will not allow the cook to be disrespectful as we were here for a child’s birthday and I was not going to embarrass us and cause a scene. Thankfully the cook calmed down we didn’t speak until he was finished, we thanked him for cooking our food but it was definitely the worst experience at a hibachi restaurant. The waitress was great and I forgot her name but she went above and beyond. The manager removed the children’s meals from our bill and we tried to make the best of it after. So when you go there beware of the cook Alex. We will definitely never return as we do prefer the quality of food at other locations with way...

From the moment we walked in, Fujiyama Japanese Steak House exceeded every expectation! The atmosphere was warm, lively, and welcoming, with the perfect blend of traditional Japanese style and modern comfort. The restaurant is immaculate, and the energy from the hibachi tables makes the experience exciting from start to finish. Our chef was not only incredibly talented but also engaging and entertaining. He made the whole table laugh while showing off impressive hibachi skills—flipping utensils, creating flaming onion volcanoes, and preparing each dish to perfection right in front of us. The quality of the food was outstanding—steak cooked exactly how I like it, tender chicken, fresh shrimp, and perfectly seasoned vegetables. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, making sure our drinks stayed full and that we had everything we needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations, which we truly appreciated. What really stood out was the attention to detail. From the complimentary pineapple boat birthday dessert (with the staff singing and making it feel truly special) to the way the host team ensured our group was seated comfortably together, every part of the evening felt carefully thought out. Whether you’re looking for a fun night out with friends, celebrating a special occasion, or just want a fantastic dinner, Fujiyama delivers every time. The combination of exceptional food, top-notch service, and unforgettable atmosphere makes this place a true gem in Indianapolis. I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been going to Fujiyama since I was a young kid. Last night we had reservations for 6pm. We were not sat until 6:50pm. The food was not started until 7:35pm all food was done and we were eating by 8:30 .. Usually with parties there is gratuity which is what I expected. I was on a check alone so I expected to not have a huge bill. After she was sorting checks I wanted an additional order to go. I get my check and that is included making the gratuity higher for an order I wanted to pay separately but it was too busy and too much commotion to try and get it changed. So I just paid it all together. I ordered the salmon teriyaki hibachi to go for my husband and I should have checked it right there but I trusted it would be fine it was $25 by itself. It was the dinner portion and price . But THAT IS NOT WHAT I got. He opened the container and there were almost no veggies and rice was a few spoonful and one small piece of salmon the container was not full at all and for as much rice as you normally get when you sit there vs what they put in this container the price should be different. Or get a container that can actually fit your normal portion. It was like a meal prep portion for a kid. But it was still $25 ??? If I get hibachi here or to go I would assume that the portions would be basically the same or close…this was a huge disappointment. So my food which was $33 bucks with tip turned into $71 but not even close to equal meals
