I called myself an expert in hainanese chicken rice where I went around the world and tried different varieties. There is only one place in greater Seattle area that I tried which passed my bar but unfortunately they (they located in Kirkland) no longer have the dish anymore. If you are series about this dish, I wouldn't come to this place for it.
First impressions was bad because the dish was already ready but they didn't call it out. We were near but later found out by checking the text message. Second, although we were over there in the food court to eat, they still gave take-out boxes and advertised plastic bag. Third, rice is not so fragrant with chicken oil in there, kinda mild. Forth, rice is too hard that destory the taste of it. Fifth, it is boneless which less likely to be authentic. Sixth, pieces of chicken not cut well and stick togehter. Seventh, not sure what they add but the flavor of the chicken isn't chicken rice at all and whatever they added isn't that great. Eighth, the sauce on the side can be improved. Just a honest opinion. Want to make this comment/review because I see there are a lot of people saying their chicken rice is delicious which I want to share my opinion as well. Thanks...
Read moreWas hungry when I went to the AFM to shop so I decided to give it a try. I didn’t have high expectation as there hasn’t been a good Hainanese chicken place in the Seattle-Bellevue area that tastes closer to home. But I have to say that I’m impressed with this place. The chicken is exceptionally tender and crispy at the same time. Pictures don’t do it justice!! If I can give additional points, the green sauce is on point! We bought chicken rice and chicken soup. Good aroma, texture, and portion size. The soup is super high quality, definitely worth the price! I also got the coconut jelly which I have been craving for since the only place that sold this closed down a long time ago. But this is a hidden gem. If there is anything they should improve is the wait time, but it’s probably because there are so many online orders which I should have done before hand. Definitely...
Read moreOrdered Hainan chicken to-go because of the rave reviews but it was so below-mediocre that it was disappointing. The chicken was tasteless, resembling the quality of cheap, frozen chicken. Not cooked with a lot of care and was not even chopped all the way through. The three sauces were very confusing - Instead of the authentic thick, sweet soy sauce, it was a runny citrusy soy sauce. Instead of a sour and spicy sauce, it was a sweet and spicy sauce. The only acceptable sauce was the minced ginger and scallion sauce, but even that did not feel fresh. The only positive thing about the meal was that the portion was quite generous for its price. Otherwise, a very disappointing hainan chicken. Would...
