Came here around 7:40 on a Sunday night. Ordered through a self serve kiosk - it was about $6 for a regular sized scoop of ice cream, then more $ for additional add-ons.
My bf got milk flavor in a cone with dango, I got swirl flavor in a cup with MBR and hojicha sauce. We just ordered whatever toppings bc not sure what was good. Wish there was a breakdown/description the toppings listed on the menu (yaki imo, warabimochi vs. regular mochi, hojicha, etc.) because there weren’t any employees near the kioski and there was only 1 functioning kioski to order the soft serve thru, so we couldn’t really ask anyone as the line was building. But can’t really go wrong with ice cream, so we just winged it.
The soft serve came out pretty quick. Flavors of ice cream itself were pretty mild/muted. Less sweet than soft serve at Somi Somi, Milk Drunk, and McDonald’s, for example. I thought the dango was really good and didn’t like the mochi, but my bf was the opposite. Total for our ice cream was about $18.50 + tax.
The place was nice, also served a variety of boba, and was decently busy, but there was plenty of seating inside & outside. Parking was pretty limited (some street options), but had to pay for a spot about a ~5 min walk away.
Overall, the soft serve was good, but i wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. i'd say the highlight of coming here is the unique topping options, which are hard to...
Read moreFor years, I have been trying to find a place that offered authentic Japanese ice cream, and have only found mediocre substitutes. As of 2024, This is one of the only two places in the entire United States that sell real Hokkaido Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream, and it is liquid crack to me. I regularly walked to this place once every 2 weeks to get my fix of Hokkaido Milk. A couple years before they opened the Bellevue location, I took a bus from Bellevue to Seattle just to get to the Indigo Cow location in Wallingford to eat this luxury treat. When they opened this location near where I lived, it was as if God was real and gave me blessing. The only thing I regret about moving away from Bellevue is not being close to this location anymore. Hokkaido Milk Ice Cream is my childhood dessert from my time in Japan, and this is the closest I can get to reliving...
Read moreI love the flavor and texture of the soft serve. It's just the perfect amount of creamy without an odd, sticky aftertaste. It's very smooth and perfect for a warm day. I've been twice now and the first time I got the smaller serving. The smaller serving is pretty decent as one person, I was a little too full when I finished the regular sized one.
I got a cone both times and it adds a good texture to the ice cream. Both times I got the brown sugar topping as it's just sweet. I had two different friends get the strawberry sauce and they liked it.
I want to go back again but I gotta give other dessert places in the area a chance too.
There is a small tablet in the corner near the Whale Tea kiosk where you can place your order. There's also the register thats next to the entrance.
They serve it pretty quick even on a busy night....
