Visited Whisker Wonderland today with my husband - what a joy! We meant to stay for just an hour, but I could barely tear myself away after two! Not only is the art absolutely stunning and the decor equally adorable, but Anna & family are so lovely and passionate about the work they do. There were cats of all different personalities, ages, looks, and backgrounds, and Anna personally shared many of the cats' individual stories with us! I am truly amazed with what they did with the space in such a short time and know there's even more to look forward to. Thank you, Anna, for making Bellevue an even more beautiful place to live.
EDIT 1 WEEK LATER: We have since returned to Whisker Wonderland to adopt 2 cats from Anna! The application took about an hour, I was approved within a day, and then we just had to fill out a digital contract and pay through Conquer the Colony. I strongly recommend putting some real thought into your application responses, as it makes things faster and easier for the rescue (so they can focus more on kitty care!). It's been lovely being able to send Anna updates on the babies and know she's deeply invested in their happiness. Happy to be part of the Whisker...
Read moreThis was my first visit to the cat rescue and it was so fulfilling!
The walls are beautifully muraled with bright colors.
I counted roughly 17 cats there, we had arrived during a massive nap time but they were all very sociable and surrounded us with purrs in no time.
The cats have bios in the building, and lots of useful information about their medical/social needs as well as information on CNR and adoption processes.
There are plenty of cat wands and toys to play with the kitties.
You can tell the space is well laid out for the cats' happiness, with plenty of perches, escape routes, nap corners, cozy nooks, and spaces for them to be as close or far from you or one another as they prefer.
Coffee was available in the foyer, this was a nice touch.
As a person with cat allergies, the place is kept very clean, because I made it through almost 2 hours of visit time with very little sneezing.
Favorite Cat of the visit had to be Sweetpea, who used my head as a pillow.
Go give the kitties a visit. Better yet, give a donation of litter or food. I plan on returning again sometime (if my own cat forgives me from...
Read moreIt is wonderful that we now have so many animal rescues, volunteers and vetting before people can adopt a new furry family member; however, to deny a person who has the means, qualifications, love and willing family member to take in furry family members “Just in case” due to their age is total discrimination! Any one of any age can die who owns animals! My mother has just lost a husband of 30 years and beloved cat of 20 years within the past 5 months and desires to fill her home with 2 new furry friends. She has had cats as long as I can remember and to deny her adopting younger cats due to her age and instead asking her to consider adopting an older cat… Very wrong! Not to mention the cat she filled out an adoption form online for was adopted before her scheduled visit and is still showing as adoptable on...
