We always love our time at Bar Cicotti, and last night was particularly wonderful. It’s always easy to rave about wonderful food, yet often it is the serving staff who make an experience what it is. Victoria, Meg and Asher—in order of appearance—were incredible! My guy has some physical challenges. With hardly a word, Victoria set about hoisting (heavy) chairs to ensure his comfort. It would have been easy to send us to that particular table where the chairs were, but the original one she chose for us had lovely greenery (Ginko Biloba tree!) and pleasant ambience, so she truly went above and beyond. Meg materialized next, and we started peppering her with questions. She confessed she was new—and she was determined to help us and gave us wonderful advice, as did Asher who was helpful to us in a special way as well. When we ordered the linguine al limone, he apologized that they had served the last helping. As we were reconsidering our options, he jetted to the kitchen and returned. “If you don’t mind waiting thirty minutes…” he said. We did and, as it turned out, he knew this would be of some cost to him as he was delayed being able to clock out which he had been eager to do. He also did us a second special kindness. So we could have eaten porridge with sticks in it—the staff made our evening!
And fortunately, we had much, much better than porridge and sticks! We, though only two, sampled a huge number of dishes—each five stars and beyond: Italian deviled eggs; stuffed mushrooms with pesto and a lovely, flavorful arugula salad; the aforementioned linguine al limone which was to die for; margherita flatbread which was to my liking—not too much of anything, but perfect amount for maximal flavor; Italian roasted shrimp in olive oil and seasonings that was so delicious that I asked for a spoon to get it all; and, lovely olive oil cake. My understanding is that Chef Aeyre was on. The staff clearly loved and praised her. We were so fortunately to be the lucky recipients of her talents.
The wines were lovely; the atmosphere too. Plus we enjoyed the sweetness of a customer’s dog. It was—in all—a divine experience....
Read moreWe LOVE Bar Cicotti. Yesterday's visit was an early fall morning with sunshine at the wooden tables outside, espresso and top notch ingredients. Simple things like bread and cheese turn into a delightful experience. Crisped thick focaccia with a soft chew, sprinkled in (Maldon??) Sea salt and dipped in a simple marinara highlights the homemade integrity of the bread. We like to get a side of barratta cheese too, drizzled in high quality olive oil and speinkled with salt and pepper. The freshness and flavor is incomparable to anywhere I've been. Not to mention, we love the team. Always accommodating and inviting, we can revel in the enjoyment of the food and drink together. Custom ceramic dishes are so fun to drink out of and give a unique style to the cafe as it nestles into the art museum behind it. Stemming from the owner's heart, the care and passion for hospitality, a slice of Italy and a calm, comfortable place to rest and commune with friends and family is felt for sure! This peaceful nook is a branch from Storia Cucina, their larger restaurant, just a few minutes walk down the street. If you havent been, go! :D Thanks everyone and see...
Read moreFood was alright for price. Service was rude. My group was sat by one person, and they took our order. All service after was by another employee who just came off rude. We would say "thank you" and she wouldn't respond. She never brought the check, and we sat outside because at the time the seating inside was sparce and they had fire pit tables outside. This was fine with us until the gas drained from our table before we finished dessert. Our server came out, saw our flame died, made a comment about it but instead of doing anything about it walked away. She could have supplied us with heat via another heating element nearby, it resat us inside as it was empty. She did nothing and we sat outside as it's getting dark and cold waiting for the check that never came. I feel bad for recommending to my friends that we go to this spot. I also tipped 20% by mistake as I always tip and rarely find myself in a situation I'm not tipping in. But I honestly really regret tipping at all. This is the second time coming to this restaurant, and the first time I caught the vibe that they take themselves a little...
