Cibelli's Westside (Bend) — Restaurant in Bend

I took a gamble trying to pick a pizza joint driving into Bend for the first time ever visiting the town. Needless to say, I told my wife, does Cibelli's have the best NY style pizza in Bend, or have they just cornered the market with a large presence? Surprise, surprise. I think I was right.

I may be bias, because for the sake of time I ordered 5 slices, since the location was very busy on a covid lockdown Friday night in downtown and they said we would have to wait maybe 40 minutes. We had just got to Bend after a long 7 hr road trip, and wanted to just eat and check into the hotel.

The second bite of my first slice I bit into something so hard, it may have cracked my tooth. Still waiting to see a dentist to see if caused permanent damage. I accidentally swallowed what ever it was; but regardless: dough, sauce, cheese, pepperoni and bacon (lardons): none of those ingredients could crack a tooth?!

I wasn't too impressed with the pie. Didn't eat my second slice.

My son has a good taste for pizza and he only ate half of one of his two slices and said gross.

My wife wasn't impressed, and said it was ok.

Overall mediocre at best. 2 stars for potential bias on preparation and the unpleasant experience. 1 star for first and...

I dont believe I have ever once taken the time to write a negative review.. ever. But after my experience with cibellis tonight, I cannot withhold warning others. I ordered a 24 inch giant with just sauce, no cheese. Yes it sounds weird. Yes I’ve ordered it before. I’ve been supporting cibellis for over ten years and have never once had what happened tonight occur to me until now. My body reacted as If I was given an entire bottle of laxative. I have never experienced stomach pain and sickness so severe. I do not have a sensitive stomach and I do not have any allergies. I have no idea what happened with my pizza tonight but something was different, and I am seriously suffering because of it.

Food poisoning? Expiration date error? I have no idea what could have happened. But could I please at least get my money back? I am happy to show a receipt and photos. I spent a lot of money on this pizza with the plan of having meals for days, and I now have to throw out this entire thing.. and I don’t waste food, ever. Had a coupon for 50% off a giant pepperoni pizza. Asked if I could pay for the pepperoni pizza and just not have the put the pepperoni on, they said no and hung up on me. Why wouldn't you let me pay for a more expensive pie and just not put the topping on it? They could have handled this situation a variety of different ways, hanging up on me and being extremely rude was not one of them. I used to be a regular customer but will take my business elsewhere from now on with plenty of other GREAT pizza in Bend Cibelli's will not be missed. Check out Bruno's, Mondo, Pacific, etc. before wasting your money here. If you do decide to eat here, be advised as other reviews state don't try to build your own pie as you'll go broke paying $3.50-$4.50...
