Today was the first time I have been to Waldo's but for sure won't be the last. Stopped by about 230 pm and there were about 5-6 customers there. The girl at the counter was quick to take my order. I got the southern chicken sandwich, fries, and a drink. Place was clean and had a cool atmosphere and decorations. They had the Olympics on TV and there were plenty of people working.
My food came out in probably about 7 minutes. The fries were thin cut and had some great seasoning. Only thing I wish is that I had gotten some sauce to try them with but they were hot and well seasoned. The Southern Sandwich was a potato bun, seasoned chicken thigh, pimento cheese, and Ranch. The chicken had great flavor and was well balanced. One of the better sandwiches I have ever had. Only thing I wish had been different was that the meat was a bit thicker. Felt like the meat to breading ratio was off but overall it was fantastic and will be back again. It is more expensive than other fast food places but the quality and flavor was there for sure and to me was worth what it cost. Glad I found this place and look forward to trying more items...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's probably the best wings in the area, not only because they're sized like wings that come with a full size chicken that you oven bake yourself, and not those miniscule portions you get from other "Buffalo Wings" shops in the area. They're also not dry, and might be salt brined before they deep fry them. I wasn't a fan of the Buffalo Sauce, but it wasn't bad - it's just that I've had wings in Buffalo (Duff's and Anchor Bar) so that's what I'm accustomed to.
The bar area is where you order your drinks if you're sitting down at a table eat - if there's an underage cashier taking the order. My other guests enjoyed their chicken sandwich (a bit more spicy than expected) and the 1/4 dark chicken were equally tasty and not dry, because of the brine.
Prices are a bit higher than most places, but with Popeye's raising their prices, it's really not much more. I expect prices to go up in 2025, so brace yourself and save your pennies if you want to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a bit conflicted about this place. The taste of the chicken was great. Some of the pieces were crispier than others. The leg was easily the best texture as it had the crisp snap, wasn't greasy at all, and the perfect temperature. The wedges were good. I was tempted to complain that there were too few, but I was too full to finish the meal by the end anyway. The slaw was perfect. It is tangy, bitter, and sweet all at once. Waldo's even has awesome sweet tea. Also, possibly the best onion rings I've had in years. Where things fall apart for me is the thing they call a biscuit. My impression is that the chain is proud of these things. Growing up in the south has given me a lot of exposure to biscuits. These don't look, feel, or taste like a biscuit. It's more like someone bought minimuffins from a grocery store and put cheese on them. Next time I go here, I'll be bringing real biscuits with me. A good biscuit would have completed...
