I had heard rumors that this place had great food so I wanted to check it out while I was here. I came around 5ish on a random Tuesday and the place was packed so it must be very popular. It seemed like there were a lot of regulars and the staff was very chatty with all of them. I sat at the bar and right off the bat saw they had a pretty decent whiskey list. Their prices were decent as well. Wild turkey rare breed and old forester statesmen were around 14 for a neat pour each. Knob creek was around 7. For food I ordered a half order of the Buffalo egg rolls. They were fine. They didn't seem very buffalo or very chicken-y to be honest. I would give them a 6 out of 10. The lady next to me also ordered them and said they were great so take of that what you will. I also ordered the steak salad which had some highs and lows. The actual salad and dressing was very good however the steak on it was terrible. The steak was tough, stringy, flavorless and had no seasoning. It was bad enough that I scraped it all off the salad and just ate the salad without it. Overall I would give this a 6 out of 10. I would give it another try but I would definitely order different food the next time. I had heard several good things about this place so maybe I just got unlucky or caught it on a bad night. The steak was pretty unforgivable however. There is no reason for it to...
Read moreThis place is one of my favorite places to go to in Berea. All of the staff are super friendly and really happy to be there. They have an amazing selection of craft beers and the bartenders are really good at mixing drinks. The menu here is great ranging from burgers to salads to my personal favorite the hot brown (a big pile of meat potatoes and gravy!) Every month they have new specials. They are able to cater to vegetarians. As far as food goes I'd say this place has the best in Berea. Though it can be a little cramped at times especially during a lunch rush or the evening it is still a really good time. The servers are all friendly and don't forget about you as soon as you walk in. You're able to play music on a jukebox and they have a couple of TVs up by the bar. there aren't a whole lot of places to sit however so if you are looking to go you definitely want to get there before a rush. The back patio is awesome. You don't have to worry about the sun beating down and you can still get a nice breeze going through it. They change up their craft beer selection quite frequently so you are always able to try something new. Whether you are looking for a drink or just want a bite to eat I would definitely recommend this place. You will not be...
Read moreWe have had the opportunity to visit Mike's bar and grill twice now since moving to the area. Our visit yesterday mirrored our first visit experience from back in early spring. Service was excellent, food was wonderful, and the general atmosphere was great. This is very much a place that has regulars and we could tell as each of them walked in, everyone on staff recognized them, greeted them, and had quick friendly chats through the course of waiting on the other guests. Leads to a great feeling atmosphere and something you never truly get in a chain type restaurant.
We started off with the buffalo egg rolls, which are quite tasty. Flavors blend very well together and were cooked to perfection. We had forgotten just how big the servings were, with just the two of us, the half serving would have been plenty.
For my main dish, I got the Salad on the Cobb, with the pear vinaigrette dressing. There were several august specials that had my eye but I was very happy with the salad. Chicken was cooked just right and the pear vinaigrette added a nice sweetness to the dish overall.
I highly recommend this restaurant. We ate indoors but they also have a sizable patio area that was really bustling yesterday with the...
