EDIT: this review was written before it changed ownership/management by Oaked. I cannot currently vouch for the experience there but also refuse to delete this masterpiece of a review for what was once my taste bud refuge. The next time I’m feeling frisky, maybe I’ll pop in for a vibe check on Oaked.
We have been to The Globe a few times since it just recently re-opened and everything they dish out is a banger.
My most recent visit was during lunch and they had the spicy poke nachos as a special. Let me start with, if you ever get wind that The Globe is going to throw this on as the special for the day, run your sweet cheeks over there asap. You know what, I’ll pray for you because good luck eating poke anywhere else now. Your taste buds will be depressed eating anything else after having these. a moment of silence for the hardships you will now face But hey! These nachos are worth it. The other thing you won’t regret ordering is a cocktail. It is high time we have a place in Berlin that slings a cocktail with enough pizazz to match my energy and they also did not disappoint.
I’m not sure what Glenn feeds his kids but we brought our kids and they eat food like the rest of us. The Globe happily accommodated (simplified) one of the items on their menu for our kids.
The menu is on the smaller side when you’re comparing it to other average restaurants. But here’s the big secret with a smaller menu…everything on it is going to be a slam dunk. Personally, I’d rather lose my mind over 10 select options than be underwhelmed by something on a menu of 30 options. Other things on the menu we’ve tried that have been dare I say chefs kiss? The chicken bacon ranch fries, the fried chicken sandwich, the burger, the broccoli slaw, and the cucumber and tomato side.
I also just found out The Globe has a brunch menu so stay tuned for my review of that because you bet your brownies I’m going to need to get that nutella French toast...

The revitalized town of Berlin continues to be a hidden gem of Ocean City Maryland but the little town will not be able to hide long with such a great venue. The old movie theater has been beautifully converted into what reminded me of a refined 9:30 club. The main floor welcomes you with a large bar which serves local beers from Burley Oak Brewery. I tried the pink High heat/Hibiscus Ale which was created by the brewer to support breast cancer awareness and is delicious! If beer is not your drink of choice they have some fantastic signature drinks such as Pot Still Apple Bourbon, Cucumber Martini and the BBQ margarita. Speaking of BBQ, there is an open kitchen that serves some of the most delicious BBQ that I have ever tasted. My wife and I were so impressed with the food and the service that we returned the next day for brunch. She had the gravy and biscuits and I had the chipped beef which were also awesome! The stage is occupied by live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night which includes both national and local musicians/comedians. The upstairs has it's own bar so you do not have to go up and down steps and if the band that is playing is not your cup of tea, you can escape outside to the enclosed tiki bar area. In a post-covid world this venue will be packed but for now they keep the crowd to a minimum, spread everyone out, and are constantly wiping down surfaces so don't be concerned about visiting now. The bar is right next to The Atlantic Hotel in Berlin which is where Runaway Bride was filmed and all of the shops in town are unique and charming. If you live anywhere on the Eastern shore or are visiting Ocean City, The Globe and Berlin MD is a must stop...
Read moreLooking for a place to eat in Berlin and was attracted to Oaked by the menu and good ratings. Knew going in I was getting the Meat Plate, a combo of ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken and brisket for $35. One of my party ordered the ribs appetizer which was 4 ribs with house made chips. Her ribs were luke warm and we struggled to separate them with a knife. Not that meaty fall of the bone type. Sauce was ok. Ribs clearly came out of the fridge and got reheated. The other person with us got the smoked chicken which was warmer than the ribs but could have been a heated a bit more. Did not care for the rub on the chicken. Mac and cheese side order that 2 of us had was under cooked, super al dente noodles. And also just barely warm. Cornbread was excellent! The meat plate was a nice portion. Ribs were same as the appetizer, chicken was ok but dry and the barbecue sauce was barely noticeable. Pulled pork was bland and the brisket had kind of a sour taste, maybe vinegar? Service was fine, but we left a lot of food on our plates because we just didn’t care for the taste of most of it and preferred to just move on rather than complaining and trying to find something on the menu we might enjoy. One and...
