I work in this mall, and during my break today, I stopped by to ask for a cup of ice for my water bottle. Our break room has filtered water, but unfortunately, no ice machine or freezer. I was told that from now on, I’ll need to make a purchase just to receive a cup of ice or water.
This was especially disappointing to hear, as I used to be a store manager at Starbucks. Unless something has drastically changed, this goes against what I know to be core to Starbucks’ customer service values. Providing water or ice — especially to someone working in the same mall — has always been a simple courtesy, not a transaction.
I’ve never encountered a food and beverage company that refuses such a basic request. It’s not just inconvenient — it feels needlessly petty and contrary to the kind of hospitality Starbucks is known for.
It’s unfortunate, but when I do want to make a coffee purchase I’ll go to Gloria Jean’s upstairs instead. Even though this Starbucks is less than 100 feet from my store. They’ve always been kind and accommodating, and they’ll be the ones earning my business...
Read moreA shopping trip to south hills village, we stopped at the in-mall Starbucks! It was absolutely filthy!! There were fruit flies in the pastry display and around the barista bar. There was spilled substance all over the counter and the floor where they were serving drinks, there were straw wrappers and dirty napkins all over the floor. I wanted to let the employee know about the fruit flies in the pastry display, he told me they were aware and appeared to not care much. If the line hadn’t been so long I would have asked for a refund that’s how unsanitary this location appeared today. Read moreThe customer service is generally pretty good which is why I’m giving this location 2 stars, however my recent experience is inspiring me to average previous experiences with the -10 experience I just had. Not only did the barista berate me (for reasons known only to him) but then proceeded to talk about me with the cashier while I and my children were within earshot. Abominable customer service and unprofessional behavior. Get your coffee fix before going to the mall. Or better yet, go visit Gloria Jean’s upstairs. That’s what I’ll be doing...
