It wasnât open when we showed up but the door was unlocked so we walked in. Weâve never been before so the experience was new to us entirely. After walking in we noticed it was empty but there was a piece of paper laying on the ground so, out of confusion and curiosity, I picked up the paper to see if it could give us any indication of where we were. In this moment a man who was silently sitting in the corner jumped up and asked if he could help us. When we explained we were here for Bar Noir cause it said it was open online he said well itâs closed so we ordered a Lyft to leave. Not even 3 minutes into waiting for our driver the man started yelling at us â explaining that we needed to get out, that we had no right to be inside, and that we picked up that piece of paper when it didnât belong to us⌠we apologized and said okay our car is on the way and he said no you have to leave and stand outside and I said okay we understand but please just be kind.    Read moreWe were in LA to attend a birthday party at the Peninsula Hotel and my economically shrewd wife found Maison 140 as a cool and inexpensive nearby hotel - which we were very happy with. However drinks in the downstairs Bar Noir was an incredible added bonus. Randy the Barman engaged us immediately and within 3 minutes we had our generously poured drinks and were chatting to other guests. It felt like we were regulars at âCheersâ (the old TV series Bar, where everyone knows your name). It was one of the best bar experiences weâve had in years. Absolutely loved it. Thanks Randy !
