WORST CINCO EVER! In anticipation of celebrating Cinco de Mayo this evening, I placed a to-go order this afternoon to avoid the 5pm rush. I ordered 5 entrees, sides, dessert, etc. with a lovely lady and told her I would pick everything up at 6:15 pm. When I arrived at the restaurant it was TOTAL CHAOS. There was no organization as to which person was "next" in the queue and from the outside I could see bags of food placed all over the interior of the restaurant. People were literally grazing from bag to bag, touching the exteriors, reaching into the inside, etc. There was a man at the register allowing the craziness to continue. It took me between 15-20 minutes to reach him and when I asked for my order he told me that there was no order. I explained that I had spoken with a lady earlier in the day; he emphatically claimed that there was "no woman" at the restaurant and that I must have confused the restaurant with another Frida several blocks away. 30 minutes after I parked, I had to jump in the car and, again, wait in line for someone to greet me. At the other Frida (Cantina) there was no record of my order and, after closer inspection of the menu, I realized that it could not have been correct restaurant. I repeatedly called the "right" restaurant on my way to Chipotle (what other choice did I have after 7pm on Cinco de Mayo??) and was sent straight to voicemail. When I arrived home I immediately checked my credit card statement ... there it was, charge for $169.13 from the Frida Restaurant on South Beverly Drive! I called and called again and nobody would answer!!!! ...
Read moreAn all-around nice spot in Beverly Hills to grab some good Mexican food and drinks. The atmosphere is open with a welcoming yet refined ambiance. The service was super friendly and attentive too. The food is on the pricier side, but pretty tasty and a good stop between shopping in the area.
They have daily lunch specials from 11 to 4 pm and AYCE Sunday Brunch for about $50 with a Bottomless Mimosa add-on for another $25. Very tempting, but I'd probably get kicked out of the stores after being blitz.
Anyways, I came here for lunch and tried their Maracuya and Watermelon Mojito for drinks. The Maracuya was an all around good cocktail with the smoky mezcal. I asked for it a little spicy and they added some jalapeños for me. The Watermelon Mojito was like summer. Very juicy, sweet, and bright!
For food, they are known for their guacamole so definitely went with that. It came with a citrusy green salsa and a smokey hot red. Pretty good and great for sharing. Really fresh guac that is light and airy being a good mix between chunky and smooth.
I also got their Mole Poblano. Super delish and highly recommended! The mole was sweet and deep with smoky notes. It was served over some shredded chicken that was cooked percectly! It came with some rice, plantains, and tortillas to build a taco. Really good mix of carbs! I enjoyed every bite and would get it again.
All in all, I enjoyed this place! Aside it being a bit pricy, it had good service, food,...
Read moreMy friends and I came here from out of state and were expecting really great things from a restaurant in Beverly hills. We had very high hopes and it turned out the food here was subpar if you can really consider it that even. The enchiladas were ordered by 3 of us and all 3 of us could not stomach eating it. The food was atrocious and the busboy or server came and was cleaning up and never even bothered to ask how the food was before picking up our plates that were obviously full of food not even eaten. The waiter then came to find only one of the 3 enchilada entrees was still left to be picked up by a busboy or server. And asked the golden question " Was everything good?" My friends and I all informed him that we were unhappy with the meal and he decided to offer compensation for only one of the enchilada meals even though all 3 of us literally ate a bite or so of it. So I was punished by paying for food that was no where near the level of where it should be considering the area the restaurant was at. Had the busboy or server did their job and informed the chef or waiter of the fact that none of us actually ate the food then we wouldn't have been stuck paying for food that we all disliked. We only managed to get one of the enchilada meals removed from the bill but that was only because we got lucky that the worker wasn't able to carry all the plates and left that one behind and in turn it was seen...
