I wanted to give this place a five. We have been here a few times, talked with excellent male bartenders, loved the mixology with drinks having a bitters kind of taste. We have been treated so well, loved the food, and, as a former waitress, I was sure we would tip well. 20% is my minimum going out, and we buy nice drinks when we go. But tonight I got off my healthcare shift, we took our dogs to the park in hoodies, I jumped on a call for grad school down the street, and we decided to have dinner at 10. I usually wear my vintage dresses from my friend’s shop downtown when we go but by circumstance my husband and I were wearing hoodies in a bar surrounded by drunk people drinking generic drinks on one side and 14 cowboy hats ordering Coors Light on the other, presumably many hotel guests. We asked for a food menu. And drink menu next. We got a drink menu and water. We never got anything else. The whole time we sat there, we could only wonder where the hell our menus even were. The bartender barely blinked at us. My husband thought it was because we weren’t hotel guests; I assumed it was because we had hoodies on and were younger and not taken seriously. He said give it 10 more minutes, it’s been 10 already. I said give it 2, as a server myself in the past - you won’t even give me a food menu? You underestimate my spending. When we left, without anyone batting an eye, we said sarcastically “thanks for your service!” Sorry lady bartender tonight but trust me you missed out on a very gracious tip. I had chosen 10 over Walkers tonight... but we have never been mistreated by Walkers but really loved the mixology at Ten. I’m not sure we will go back after that mistreatment by her at the bar.
Update: Totally different experience now and...
Read moreWife and I went here for our anniversary. Staff (especially server Jennifer) was great but the steaks were nearly inedible. We both ordered medium and they came out rare. We could deal with that. But there was so much char on the top/bottom that every bite tasted like pure charcoal. There was no seasoning on the steaks whatsoever. After we added our own salt and pepper and cut the top/bottom off the steaks, they were decent. For $50 I expected MUCH better.
Also, I have a gluten allergy and ordered my steak gluten free. Jennifer was amazing and checked on all the items on the menu to see what was safe and what wasn't and helped me place a proper order. Yet my steak came out with deep fried, breaded, onion rings on it.
As an appetizer we got the honey bacon brussel sprouts. These were slightly better than the steaks. Still a ton of char though. We were able to pick around it and salvage the appetizer at least.
The best part of our meal was the drinks and gluten free dessert (flourless chocolate cake) which tasted like it was one of the gluten free frozen cakes you can get a any health food store.
While the staff is kind and courteous, the kitchen has an immense amount of room to improve. If there was better knowledge on grill temperature, this review would be completely different.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys food that doesn't taste like burnt charcoal. But if you're a dragon and enjoy your meal burnt to a crisp with no other taste, this is the place for you.
My wife and I agreed as we walked back to our car, "Texas roadhouse has much...
