Dairy Deluxe — Restaurant in Birmingham

We were in Detroit for the first time for a funeral. It was on the second day of our trip when I realized that we were near the famous Woodward Avenue! As a gearhead, this made me pretty excited. Due to family obligations we did not get a chance to head out to Woodward until after 9:30 on a Wednesday in June. We knew that we wanted some icecream and Dairy Deluxe was the first place that we saw and it was open with a crowd out front at 10PM! There were several cool cars out front and on the side street. I got a swirl cone with chopped nuts and my girlfriend got a chocolate cherry dipped cone. The icecream was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing! It was so cool to watch cars go by and enjoy a treat. I would love to be here on a Saturday! I guess that we will have to come back some day. Will definitely need to stop by Dairy Deluxe when we do!

Diary Deluxe has been our go to for years. I was very disappointed that when we went last night the staff was not wearing masks and people were congregating out front. When I asked about the masks, the staff said they did not have any, but that they had gloves. Gloves are not a substitute for masks! How about DIY masks like everyone else is doing? Bandannas? We would like to continue to support you but will not do so until all of the staff has masks. In addition, given the small work space, the staff are potentially infecting each other. Being in the food service industry, and being one of the lucky ones with a walk-up window, I would expect Diary Deluxe would take better precautions to protect its staff...

Best Ice Cream stand around but: PLEASE BRING BACK THE WATER FOUNTAIN you removed during COVID ! It gets HOT standing in line on 85-95 degree Summer evenings ! ( With water fountain my review would have been 5 Stars! ) People whining about Cash only need to realize that keeps your prices down but you you COULD set out a couple of stand up signs in the line area to give the newbies fair warning.... And PLEASE fix your machine so it will dispense 100% flavored ice cream again and not force me to have a " Swirl " or just...
