Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Royal Oak

I've been to this place couple of times and I really enjoyed the varieties of ice cream there, which is pretty good. Unfortunately, last time I was there (it was 08/16/19 around 10.40 p.m. right before closing as they work till 11 p.m. on Fridays) I saw smth that made me lost my appetite for this place for ever. So you know how they keep waffle cones and waffle bowls behind the glass next to the counter? So while they were closing a girl came to pack all the waffle stuff to a box and she was touching all the waffle bowls with bare hands, no gloves, not even napkins, just bare hands, while I was standing right next to her and watching at what she was doing. I think this is unacceptable in no way, and I believe I don't need to explain why. As we're on that, I haven't noticed gloves on any of the stuff member. After seeing that, I didn't want to eat that ice cream and I won't be coming back there for sure. P.s. when we came into the place, for a few minutes we were just waiting for someone to come and serve us, even though they saw us coming and standing next to the counter, nevertheless, they were just talking at the back of the house until my husband asked if someone can help...

Its literally hit or miss at this location . I was at this location at 2:45/2:50 pm , there wasn’t any ice cream sandwiches so I grabbed 2 ice cream pies (obviously spending more money on these then the sandwiches but its hot and I was buying for my husbands work). I put the 2 boxes down at the register in the center of the counter thats always in use . The young Millennial male with dark hair and glasses said at the further down register “I’m down here” in not a very friendly voice and not very welcoming 😳 I picked up my 2 boxes and came down there 🙄 he said in a rude tone “is that it?” Nope , would like a shake . I get it these Millennials don’t wanna work, don’t like working , don’t like dealing with the public but guess what ? You have to and you have to be welcoming or people wont come back, they will go elsewhere . Customer service is very important young man , repeat customers is very important . I thought about asking if the manager was the dark short hair lady to explain my experience there but didn't feel like waiting and letting my ice...

Customer service is always wonderful! Great selection on the menu and in their coolers. Curbside and walk-in pick up through the pandemic have been great!

Edit: 1 year later, still live oberweis, when the adults are working. I went in today, nobody ahead of me. But the girls in there had a friend visiting and it looked like another girl that worked there went on break to talk to this person they were all playing around like they weren't at work. I ordered 1 shake and it took 15 minutes. Another friend of theirs came in and was served a free shake before I was served the shake I paid for before he walked in. I will avoid coming when these people are working. Terrible service, teens need experience too, but they need proper supervision as well, the guy working was playing and joking around right there with them. To wait 15 minutes for a shake with no other paying customers ahead of me...
