Simply spectacular! Rare does a new restaurant exceed in all aspects! From the moment you enter, you are greeted by ownership and made to feel at home. That's if your home was spectacularly designed, combining a contemporary atmosphere enhanced by warm wood and textures to balance the space. A lively atmosphere that evokes a great experience. The service... Superior in every way! The wait staff works in unison to ensure service is impeccable, while ensuring you feel like a honored guest. The food... The menu is a well curated balance of traditional Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes. It honors the standards and elevates the flavors. My Lebanese family was impressed with every dish. We filled the table with appetizers and entrees to get a wide-ranging experience of flavors. The appetizers gave a great entry into what was to come. The kibbie with its traditional spices and yogurt was delicious, a must order! Spinach fatayer, hummus Beyrouti and manoushi was as good as it gets. The entrees with traditional flavors but inventive at the same time gave a Lebanese fine dining experience. The lahm lamb meatballs were filled with spice and the accompanied rice and tomato ragu accentuated the dish. The Za'atar chicken was moist at full of flavor with the hashwe being a star also, my son hardly left bites for the rest of us. My wife's favorite was the lamb shank with white bean cassoulet. It was tender, full of flavor and one of the best lamb dishes we had ever eaten. Desert.. The olive oil cake, was beautifully prepared, substantial and light at the same time with a wonderful blueberry compote, so satisfying. Oh the Knafeh!!! As good as it gets. Airy, cheesy and with such a wonderful orange blossom water flavor. Most Lebanese grandmothers would be proud to put forth such a dish.
I firmly recommend you eat family style. Order multiple appetizers and entrees so everyone can taste the Superior flavors of Epice and Lebanon.
Needless to say, the entire experience could not have been any better, The only thing better is knowing that we now have this restaurant in Birmingham to frequent often and bring our family and friends. Great job to my new Epice family and welcome...
Read moreFrom start to finish, Épicé delivered an exceptional dining experience that struck the perfect balance between tradition and refinement. As a first-time guest, I was thoroughly impressed by the ambiance — intimate, stylish, and warm, setting the tone for a memorable evening.
I began with the spinach fatayer, which arrived perfectly baked, its lemony filling bursting with freshness and wrapped in delicately crisp pastry. It was the perfect prelude to the Al Reheb II, a deeply satisfying dish that layered tender meat with warm spices and beautifully textured rice. The flavors were bold yet balanced — clearly the result of thoughtful preparation.
To finish, I chose the Sayadeya, which was nothing short of excellent. The spiced fish, caramelized onions, and toasted nuts were woven together with fragrant rice in a dish that felt both comforting and elevated. Every bite was rich with flavor and history.
The service was just as impressive — attentive without being intrusive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I appreciated the care that went into not just the food, but the full experience and my conversation with the owner about the vision and influence for Epice.
Épicé isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a place to savor. I’ll absolutely...
Read moreTried Epice for the first time last night and was underwhelmed. For the price, the portions were small, and the quality of the food didn’t surpass what you’d find at more affordable local Mediterranean spots. I ordered the salad with beef tenderloin, but the server awkwardly suggested a different protein would pair better, making it uncomfortable to insist on what I wanted. When the salad arrived, there was a large, inedible lettuce stem that took up most of the bowl, and much the lettuce itself was wilted. After asking the manager for an extra plate to dispose of the stem and some fresh greens to complete my salad, he returned with more questionable looking lettuce. I ended up eating just the steak, which was prepared well, but for the price and expectation, I expected a better experience. The manager didn’t offer to comp the salad or make it right in any way. My husband’s meal came with what the server called “French fries,” but they turned out to be soggy—possibly just roasted potatoes cut in the shape of fries. His “side salad” was maybe five pieces of lettuce. At that point, we couldn’t help but laugh. The only positive part of the evening was the hostess, Samantha, who was friendly and...
