Tuscan Table — Restaurant in Black Mountain

The service and atmosphere was great. We had the garlic cheese bombs as appetizers, they were good, the dough was nice and light, cheesy, and the marinara was great. My husband liked the mussels. He ordered fries which could have been more crispy. I ordered the rack of lamb, with ramp pesto and sunchoke smash. The lamb chops were good, although a bit fatty. Ramp pesto was unusual but good, something I'd never had, so that was great to try. I was really looking forward to the sunchokes. I've had them before and loved them. What I got was a flavorless fried triangle of what tasted like nothing. Very disappointing and totally misrepresented as it was not a smash of any kind, was fried, tasteless and nothing like any sunchoke I've ever had. I hope to return and try something else and be impressed as I do really want to return for great, authentic, something you won't make at home, Tuscan food. Wishing...

This place was ok, the menu looked great and the staff/service were lovely but the food was quite a let down. The stuffed mushrooms were fresh, but lacked flavor and complexity - it was literally just hot veggies with cheese on top, it would've benefited from some salt and pepper and maybe some cheese with a little more flavor than mozzarella. The 12 oz Ribeye was tender but also lacked seasoning, though the sauce helped a lot. The steak came already cut into strips which just seems wrong and was cooked medium well instead of medium. An absolutely wonderful surprise in downtown Black Mountain, NC. Great atmosphere, the food was fresh, flavorful, and hands down the best Italian I have had outside of Atlantic City! Jenna and her staff were attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu and wine pairings, and made us feel like family the moment we walked in the door.
