Extremely disappointed in my most recent visit. Chose this restaurant on a Thursday night to watch both football and playoff baseball. Specifically asked for a seat with views of both games. Was seated on the patio with the assurance there were TVs. Unfortunately, the football game was tuned to NFL network and kept buffering every 30 seconds and was nowhere in synch with real time game action. The second TV was stuck on rodeo and could not be changed because of an issue with the HDMI cable. Saw neither the football game nor the baseball game. The service was adequate but they did not have rolls with the meal. When we asked about them was told they were not available because they were rising. Rather than tell us this at the start of the meal, offer a substitution, explain they might be available later in the meal, etc. it seemed as if they were hoping we wouldn't notice. I see some big lessons here for the owners. 1. Know your clientele. As the closest thing to a family friendly sport bar/restaurant we have in Blackfoot game nights - especially multiple sport games nights - are going to draw in sports fans so it might be important to show the games. 2. Train your staff. If the games aren't available on the patio don't let them assure the customer they are only to leave them disappointed. 3. Plan and prep better. A comfort food dinner place running out of rolls during the dinner rush is roughly analogous to McDonald's running out of French fries. 4. If you fail to plan and prep, make it right with the customer rather than wait to be called out on the issue. Just another example of buyer's remorse where prices continue to rise but quality, service, and amenities fall. If I wanted to follow the games on my phone I could do that at home for free. The only redeeming quality about this visit, and why i gave them a 2-star instead of a 1-star rating, was they did a better than average job on the food itself, which all comes off the Sysco truck like most of the other restaurants...
Read moreThe portions were small in comparison to the price. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and when we received them they were very small, and there were only 9. I've always gotten stuffed mushrooms from other restaurants that were large not tiny they were about the size of a quarter I was expecting them to be the size of silver dollar or larger plus they weren't even breaded I don't know about this but but stuffed mushrooms have always been stuffed and breaded then deep-fried . I know this because I have worked behind the grill in many restaurants as a line cook. Plus my wife had the Oriental chicken salad and she had mentioned that the chicken was overcooked and dry, I thought it looked like old chicken myself but it had sauce on it. I had the fish and fries and the fish reminded me of fish sticks they need to use bigger pieces of fish. I didn't want to pull out my phone and take pictures because we were having dinner with a friend who we took there for their birthday and didn't want to embarrass him by taking pictures of our dinner and ruining the experience for him. Me personally I feel restaurants today have raised prices and reduced the amount of food they serve and expect everyone to be satisfied with it, They need to give people better quality of food and service to match what they pay for. Growing up I remember they used to serve a dinner roll with dinner but not any more. Other people may have accepted this but in reality all restaurants have lost what it means to have a great dinning experience when they go out to eat. Sorry Tommy Vaughan's for taking the brunt of my rage for dinner experience going down hill but perhaps you can become a leader in bringing back what it means to have a great time going somewhere and having a good time eating and not just a place...
Read moreI don't give 5 stars, I am too tough for that but if any place deserves 5 stars this place comes close. Friday night, Fourth of July weekend, height of the dinner rush. Crowded. Thought we would be faced with disdain and a long wait. Nope. From the very amenable hostess to the server, to those who brought our food out, to the manager who stopped by to assure everything was good, each staff member made us feel welcome and glad to see us, like we were regulars, locals. The atmosphere is warm family oriented with a slight sports bar feel, complete with Man Cave. The food was very good. Hubby had the Country Fried Steak. Real steak folks, made in house, not some frozen puck from a food warehouse, the gravy tasted home made as well, delicious. I had the chicken wing dinner, which was higher priced than the menu price due to a sudden raise in chicken prices, no, not as many as would get from B-dubs or Wingers, but comparable in preparation, so good, I am a wing eater, not the best wings I have had, have to go to Wisconsin Dells for that, but done well, not dried out, they were yummy. I always get mine naked with the sauce on the side, I got hot, it was nice, had a little heat to it but full of good pepper flavor. My ONLY complaint would be they were not served with blue cheese and I did not ask for any, so really, what complaint? Cajun Fries. Get them. They are the BOMB! Did not have any desert but lawdy did I I want to, they had three equally delicious sounding sweet endings....next time...we will be back. THANX sooooo much for a great Friday evening...
