Hidden away in Blacksburg, Hamro Kitchen is a treasure waiting to be discovered. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm smiles of the owner team and servers, instantly creating a family-like atmosphere. This sense of belonging is further enhanced by the personal attention showered upon each guest, making you feel like a valued part of their extended family.
The journey to flavor begins with the vibrant menu, offering an array of Nepali and Indian dishes that tantalize the taste buds. We embarked on our culinary adventure with the Chana Masala, a hearty and comforting dish that embodied the perfect balance of spices and flavors. The Palak Paneer was equally delightful, boasting a rich, flavorful gravy that beautifully complemented the melt-in-your-mouth paneer. The Mix Veg Curry was a kaleidoscope of colors and textures, each vegetable cooked to perfection and retaining its individual essence within the harmonious blend.
No Indian feast is complete without its appetizers, and Hamro Kitchen did not disappoint. The Veg samosas were crisp and golden, filled with a flavorful potato and pea mixture that exploded in our mouths with each bite. The Mix bread basket was a delightful assortment of naans, rotis, and parathas, each perfectly cooked and ready to mop up every delicious morsel of curry.
For the adventurous palate, the Chicken chili momo was a revelation. These delicate steamed dumplings, packed with a flavorful chicken and chili filling, offered a delightful burst of heat and savory goodness. And the Lamb biryani, a fragrant masterpiece of rice, meat, and spices, was the perfect finale to our gastronomic exploration.
While the restaurant building might benefit from some updates to truly elevate the dining experience, the warmth of the service and the sheer brilliance of the food make any minor shortcomings irrelevant. Hamro Kitchen transported us to other realms through its flavors, leaving us with a sense of joy and contentment that resonated long after we left.
If you're looking for an authentic, family-oriented dining experience that explodes with flavor, look no further than Hamro Kitchen. It's a culinary gem waiting to be discovered, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly special...
Read moreI have gone here multiple times so wanted to give a comprehensive review. Across all my visits I have ordered Lamb Biryani, Butter Naan, Aloo Paratha, Vegeterian Samosas, Vegeterian Pakora, Duck Choila, Chicken 65, Chicken Tikkia Masala, and Mutton Rogan Josh.
Overall most were good so Ill comment on the ones that were surprising or unexpected.
Duck Choila: With all the greens, it seemed more like a salad than a meat orientated appetizer. Not bad but was just expecting bigger portions.
Aloo Paratha: Was very good and liked having the extra depth and flavor of the potatoes.
Chicken 65: Was expecting it to be spiced fried chicken but was surprised when it came in a sweet sauce that tasted kind of similar to Panda Express's Orange Chicken. Not necessarily bad just not the flavor I was expecting.
Curries: Curries were all solid and didn't have much comments EXCEPT beware that when you order higher levels of spice (4 or 5/5), it doesn't get spicier but it takes on a more chemically taste the kind of ruins the dish. I usually like spicier curries but could not get them here since they would consistently taste more chemically and lose their spiced flavor.
Service and atmosphere was okay. Had to ask them to fill up our water on multiple visits but not the biggest deal in the world to me.
Overall, pretty enjoyable and is on my regular rotation for more ethnically...
Read moreFirst time eating here a few days ago. The outside is unassuming, if you were casually driving by you wouldn't know it was there. We were seated quickly, no wait. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was clean inside, quiet.
We ordered entrees mild in order to get good idea of flavor profile over spice/heat content. In all we ordered:
Vegetable samosa- very fragrant, tasted good. Two to an order. Would order again.
Garlic naan, butter naan- Light, tasty. It's one whole naan cut into 4 quarters per order. Would order again.
Vegetable biryani- one of the best I've had in the States. Would absolutely order again.
Mutter Paneer- slightly different from other versions I've ordered from other restaurants. Slightly more savory in flavor, little more grit in the texture of the sauce as opposed to the smooth and creamy texture I'm used to. Still, very flavorful. Would order again, but after trying other dishes first.
Chicken Vindallu- never ordered a dish like this before. Chicken was cooked perfect, very good taste. Would order again.
Nepali coffee- Different type of coffee. 10/10 would come back for just this.
Raita comes with the entrees. It was different from others I've had. This was more sweet and thicker than I'm used to. Not unpleasant but I wouldn't order extra.
They have a good number of vegetarian dishes. They offer spice level 1-5. Entrees average...
