My sister and I came to this establishment last night for drinks and dinner and from the time we arrived our experience was terrible. Walking up to the outside dining area we were never greeted by a hostess, we tried to ask a waiter we could sit and was totally ignored twice but proceed to stand next to us and assist some other customers. Once we were finally seated by another waitress we put our drink orders and appetizers in. My sister ordered a frozen drink which came out watery and our appetizer the macaroni balls were spoiled! The wraps we ordered as our main meal was terrible as well. Our waiter Isabella was very nice and apologetic for our terrible experience but we assured her it wasn’t her fault but would like to speak to the manager. The manager eventually came out but was already uneasy because he didn’t feel the need to come out and talk to us since he took the spoiled appetizer off our bill (his words). We tried to explain to him our overall experience from entering the establishment and being ignored by his staff to the preparation of our meals and again in his words “I’m busy inside handling phone orders. I’m not responsible for what everyone else do. You want to come inside and stand by the phone yourself.” At this point I was highly offended and let him know that I saw him come out already to check a few other tables but never looked at ours but he was so busy inside also that as a manager you are responsible for your staff and how they treat your customers...this conversation eventually got heated because he still felt like he did have to show any type of costumer appreciate to us and very rudely told us not to come back to his establishment since we’re having these issues. As we were leaving we spotted our waitress and stopped to thank her for being so kind and to still leave a tip. The manager literally stormed out the door, bumped me, and started yelling at our waitress Isabella “ if you see them again they are not allowed here”! At this point things got heated, words were exchanged, and cops were called. I really didn’t want to make this a race issue but I wholeheartedly feel that if we were white patrons this would have never escalated the way that it did. FYI when the manager first came out on his own he checked on other tables where white patrons were seated and never once looked at my sister and I even though we were the patrons with the complaints. So with that being said we will never support this...
Read more10/24/2024 Update. There has been an inprovement in the quality of the food. Enough to notice. I will keep trying this place and do a full uldate in a month..
We tried the Nevada Diner on a Saturday evening when we couldn't get a walk-in seat at out first choice, the Bloomfield Steakhouse. The Nevada dinner menu had both steak and seafood, and they have a liquor license! We ordered ribeye, jambalaya, salad, and martinis. We hoped it could work out. It didn't! But it wasn't a total disaster.
First, the good point: the ribeye steak was quality meat; it was cooked excellently and served with excellent fries. That is one point to their credit.
The heart of the matter with the Nevada, however, is their lack of concern for their clients and basic authenticity. No one there from the waiter to the bartender to the chef cares in the least to provide their clients with the experience they are paying for, and no one has the mental wearwithal to check the internet and make the food authentic.
Example one, the shrimp and chorisos jambalaya! The dish is supposed to combine the flavors of sofrito, rice, and various meats. The operative word is combine and its done by cooking things together. In this case the chef placed grilled shrimp on top of the jambalaya, it was not cooked with the dish. It had no flavor. It wasn't infused with the flavor of either the sofrito or chorisos. CHECK THE INTERNET TO SEE HOW THE DISH SHOULD BE COOKED.
Example two, the bartender. We made the mistake of ordering drinks, a martini. It was a simple request, a Beefeater Martini straight up with an olive. The waiter had no idea what we asked for. Someone else came over and I explained the drink request. He seemed to understand. What came was in a cactus shaped margarita glass with some gin and olives and more vermouth than even a sweet martini requires. CHECK THE INTERNET TO SEE HOW A MARTINI IS MADE AND WHAT BEEFEATER GIN IS.
And finally, and the garden salad was a deep and abiding insult to my garden and anyone else's. CHECK THE INTERNET FOR "GARDEN SALAD".
I know we should have tried more traditional diner food. I may go back and try their Ruben. (I saw one someone else ordered and it looked great.)
My advice is not to try anything at the Nevada that might be a "reach". As for the management, just check the internet when you're not aure how to...
Read moreThis place is awful. My food contains hair. HAIRR, indeed! This place had terrible customer service. My three companions and I arrived here and placed our orders. I got a nutella waffle with strawberries, and when the food arrived—which took an absurdly long time—the restaurant was completely empty. After waiting, we eventually received our food, and as I opened it, I noticed a hair in my strawberry. Andrea was still wary, so I presented it to her while she stared at it dumbfoundedly, asking, "What is that?" or, more accurately, "What does it look like?" Five minutes after my friends have finished eating, she arrives with the platter. "Well, do you want us to make you another?" she asks after returning. I replied "yes," assuming that since I had waited after the kitchen had gotten hair in my dish, the waffle would not be included on the check knowing a hundred other restaurants do that to make the customer happy. After fifteen minutes, she returns with the food, and since my guests have almost finished their meals, I said, "Will this be added to the bill?" "Of course we made you another one, and you are going to eat it," she added. "Well, you got hair in my food, so I waited longer while you were making another one," I remarked. When we wanted to talk to the manager, he came over and we told him that his kitchen had botched up, so I had waited for the food while everyone else was eating. I will be billed for the "mistake" his kitchen made, he said. I told him to retract it. Because of terrible customer service, I departed without eating anything. Yes, I could have spent $17 for a dinner, but it would have required more waiting time and had hair on it.NEVER GO HERE because Andrea, the waiter, and the manager are...
