ordered birria tacos, and a taco al pastor plate. Overall spent near $30 for two people. I was a bit skeptical- but if the food is above average then I don’t mind paying the price. The birria tacos cost $15 for an order of three. No beans, no rice included. I suppose for $5 per taco that’s not completely outrageous, but they did not blow me away by any means. They were average. And, if I wanted to add beans and rice to make it a “combo” it would cost $20?!?! THAT IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY FOLKS. I love my Mexican amigos, but you people are getting bold with raising prices and lowering quality. The three tacos and beans + rice should be $15 at most, period.
And then my al pastor tacos…tragic. Sadly, the meat was seasoned and marinated perfectly. I mean perfectly. The tortillas were fresh, the beans and rice (while pricey on their own but included for this plate, weirdly) were very good. But the pork?? Every single piece of my Al pastor was burnt to a crisp. Never in my life have I ordered pastor tacos that were somehow seasoned perfectly but cooked to the point of being crunchy and charred tasting. To me, this simply just means whoever cooked the food didn’t care enough to make sure it was edible. Whoever did the prep work deserves a gold star, because as I was eating them I was rather unsure of how to feel. On one hand, the meat was marinated and I could taste it beyond everything being crispy and burnt, but on the other hand the MAIN INGREDIENT was overcooked. For $30 I’ll just order carry out from a dine in restaurant for the same price and a better experience. Either raise your quality and standards, or charge us for what you’re selling. If you want to sell decent tasting food with hit or miss quality, then price it that way. I don’t go into McDonald’s expecting the best cheeseburger of my life, but if they make it $5 for one compared to $1 then ya dang right I’m gonna gripe about every possible detail if it isn’t perfect. Sorry but definitely am not sorry. Thanks for...
Read moreMy husband and I have been on a journey to find Mexican food that comes close to home. We are both born and raised in California. I’m Mexican so finding food in the Midwest has been very disappointing until… Today. I can honestly say I almost cried lol. The burritos are massive I took a picture with our massive 3 years old arm for comparison lol. So for 3 burritos one with added guacamole was about $36. Worth of every penny. Hubs got the Rancho everything was fresh no complaints. I got a bean and cheese burrito with added rice for our 3 year old… amazing! The beans tasted fresh!!! Definitely the closest to my mommas beans… don’t tell her! lol Now to my Burrito… I’m got the California Burrito no pico with added Guac! I vote they add it to the Menu and call it the Susana Burrito lol it’s Fries, steak and Guac and omg it was perfect!!!! This place was the most authentic to the real thing! Best part is I didn’t see any white queso on the menu lol yes that’s a Midwest thing definitely not a Mexican thing. Drive through only but they are open until 2am Friday and Saturdays. 12am rest of the week. Take this from the pickiest Mexican ever....
Read moreI was really hungry and decided to give this place a try instead of my usual taco truck, but I regret it. The drive-thru was painfully slow, and the food was disappointing. The al pastor was overloaded with cinnamon and salt, making it inedible. The chiles rellenos and beans had American and white cheese, which felt off. Prices were steep—$4.69 for a taco, more expensive than authentic spots in Kansas City, Kansas. The torta al pastor had so much beans and guac that it was a mess, and the salsas were either too watered down or too sour.
I don’t mean to be rude, but if you’re looking for real Mexican food, this isn’t it. At this price point, you’re better off at Taco Bell. Unfortunately, I had to throw my food away and make another stop to...
