Walked over a mile with our luggage to find a spot to eat late at night and we come across this place, reviews looked solid so we said, why not! Now we are from Texas and know that Mexican food is different anywhere else, so we didn’t expect much (though i do think chipotle would’ve been better). The reason I’m writing this review isn’t so much as the mid level food (after all, we were hungry). It’s the lack of service and poor management.
There appears to be one man doing all the work and making all sorts of online orders, the other employees just keep bringing him more online order tickets to fill. After waiting 5 minutes with no acknowledgment, I ask if we need to order online. I’m told that the man making the food will take our order, he then looks up asks what we want. My fiancé tells him her order, he makes it and puts it to the side, then I order. He starts to make it, then goes back to processing online orders (which don’t stop coming as the other employees are just bringing him more tickets to fill). After he makes a few more orders, he gets back and finishes my order. Unfortunately, the one other person who interacted with us processed my order for payment, but forgot to process my fiancés order and became confused. It was an easy fix, but icing on the cake with this place.
Two star overall as service was terrible (took between 10-15 minutes to complete our orders and we were the only ones in line). Food was 3/5 though (nothing beats chipotle when going for fast/ quick burritos) , queso was good though!
Next time, explaining to the customer that you will be a minute as you process online orders (so they know they will be served) as well as not to keep placing more online orders in front of the only employee working would definitely help the efficiency of this workplace. Or just only use a self/ online ordering system...
Read moreAnna's Taqueria provides fast paced service of authentic Mexican food. I was almost reminded of the soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld where if you didn't know what you were doing when you were ordering you'd get contemptuous looks from other customers and the staff as well.
Ordering the food can be done in English or Spanish and the service really is lightning fast. From the time I placed my order to the time I received my burrito it was about a minute, maybe 2 at the most.
Once you've ordered there are a few seats upstairs as well as a quite a bit more seating downstairs. I'd you're going with a larger party I would definitely recommend downstairs. There are also several electricity outlets both upstairs and downstairs, as well as free water and cups to drink downstairs.
I ordered the regular burrito with steak, cheese, lettuce, rice and beans, pic de Gallo, and sour cream ($0.65) extra but well worth it in my opinion). It was hands down the best burrito I've ever had. Rolled to perfection and not a sloppy mess to eat. The steak was extremely tender, the pick had just enough heat that was balanced well by the cheese & sour cream. The rice and beans made for a filling burrito and the shredded lettuce brought just enough crunch to tightly wrapped piece of heaven.
This was my first time going there but I will be sure to be back again soon. They also offer a breakfast menu that...
Read moreI have been going to various Anna's locations in the Boston area since 1999. I still love their veggie burritos.
But there's something off with the online ordering at the Beacon Hill location. The first time I placed an online order, I was missing an item - an order of chips + guac, but I brushed it off as an error. I ordered at the Porter Square location a month or so later and no problems at all.
I recently ordered from the Beacon Hill location only to get home and discover that I was missing ... an order of chips + guac. I received a survey via email that afternoon, so filled it out and mentioned I was missing part of my order. I received a response the same day apologizing and that they'd do better next time.
$5.25 was what I was out again. While I appreciate the response and apology, Anna's needs to start making it right. A credit, something. Because it wasn't just that one time, and it wasn't just a missed ingredient in a burrito - this is definitely a recurring issue that needs to be fixed. It was a bummer to get everything home and realize I didn't have enough food for everyone.
Updating after a recent visit in March 2024. Ordered in person two veggie burritos and was so disappointed that there are no longer vegetables to add - only beans and rice and corn. I could just get this at Taco Bell. Massively disappointed and I think my days of going to...
