was visiting and actually love this vibe for a late weekday afternoon. Great drinks and radio music
December 2024 UPDATE: My review up top was from September 2024. I recently made sure that when I was in boston to stop by here again as I had a great time last time AND LOVED THE VIBE. HOWEVER this time, it was a Sunday and went with a friend. After getting there we were seated our waiter (guy with a mini afro) took our drink order was fairly quick. when he came back to take our food order i asked for the pizza WITH PEPPERS and ONIONS. He repeated it and i nodded. When the food finally came out (not brought by our waiter) it was a pizza with JUST PEPPERONIS (I'm vegetarian) the pizza was also missing the other ingredients that were on the menu (basil, etc) I politely moved the pizza to the edge of the table visibly while my friend ate her meal. we couldnt find the waiter to get his attention that the meal was messed up. almost 30 mins go by my friend has finished her meal and the pizza STILL on the edge of the table cold. Not once did the waiter come back by to see "if everything was ok" since the kitchen delivered our food. When he FINALLY came by almost 40 mins after us just sitting there I told him i only asked for the pizza plus peppers and onions. The waiter got very silent and almost caught an attitude and yanked the pizza off the table. IF he had come by to check on us once we got our food or just simply glance over in the 40mins that the pizza was just sitting there he would've known. Disappointed as I went out my way to come back to this bar from the great nostalgia...
Read moreBeacon Hill resident for 15+ yrs takes grandmother for lunch and gets a rude awakening!!!and after visiting this place and Harvard Gardens through the years I always felt there should be more diversity.... sonlike it's a bar...and so I continue to find moderate comfort in my back yard to chuck back a few beers.
Today I am talking about service. Never judge a book by it's cover. I practice Optomorty for 10+ yrs just because not dressed up does not mean I do not deserve respect and integrity. Treat people as you would like to be treated. To say the least our Server ( Day) was very rude + inattentive left food at the table next to us and when we ask for this to be removed we recieved clanging plates and attitude. Sat on the table while taking our order..Our meal was served without our silverware and the unkindness and attitude continued until we left. I paid and tipped even though I was disappointed and my meal was not finished because I lost my appetite. I reported to the MOD onsite. I have sat many nights talking with the owner having a beer...around the bar.. either he is ok with this or he does not know. Bottomline my grandmother wished I never take her there again. And I have many friend I send there when they come in town....and if I day the word they would not go anymore. Of course this is not neurodivergent friendly...Pros you can bring your child or dog. Cons: None I'd you dont look like me...and I leave...
Read moreMy friends and I go to Hill Tavern trivia every week. Usually there is a large group of us and we order a lot of food/drinks. Tonight, it just happened to be a smaller group and people just ordered drinks. The waitress was told by her manager, Dennis to talk to us about how this was losing them money. It ended up feeling more like a lecture but we understood that it wasn’t her fault. However, then Dennis proceeded to come to our table, tell us that people were “pissed” and lecture us. When my friend asked for the bill since he clearly was accosting us in hopes of us emptying the table, he proceeded to yell at us about how “he was trying to be nice” (even though he was yelling). When we asked to speak with him after, he told the waitress to say he was “too busy,” though not busy enough to come over and raise his voice at us in the first place. It was a ridiculous way to treat regulars. If the business had a minimum we would be happy to respect it but it’s not our fault. The waitress even said that we weren’t doing anything wrong and that it was excessive for him to come over when she had already spoken to us.
Can’t help but think he would never have done that to a group of men in suits but when it’s a group of young girls he feels like he can treat us...
