I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Burn Center, Pre-Op Center, and Surgical Unit for the outstanding care provided during a recent visit for my daughter, Haley.
Although her scheduled surgery could not move forward as planned due to unforeseen medical issues that arose that morning, the entire experience from the moment we checked in at 5:30 a.m. was seamless, calm, and filled with compassion.
Haley’s pre-op nurse was absolutely wonderful: reassuring, attentive, and kind. I was also brought into the process and suited up to accompany Haley into the surgical area, which meant a great deal to both of us.
Once we arrived in the Surgical Unit, we were met with a level of care that was truly exceptional. Our surgical nurse was amazing. Haley’s anesthesiologist was remarkable, and we felt confident that she was in the best hands. Dr. Hickey, my daughter’s surgeon, was outstanding. His bedside manner was calm, confident, and kind. He made us feel like Haley was his only patient that day, which meant the world.
All of the other members of the team, including the interns and surgical staff, were equally amazing. Every single person we encountered was of the highest caliber in both expertise and patient care.
Their kindness and professionalism helped turn a very emotional and uncertain day into one where I felt held, supported, and seen — not just as a parent, but as a person navigating a complex and stressful situation.
While we didn’t leave with the results we expected, we left with immense gratitude for the people who walked with us every step of the way. The care my daughter received, and the empathy extended to me, was extraordinary. I cannot thank the MGH team enough for their warmth, clarity, and calm during such a difficult time.
It honestly makes me wonder why anyone in this region would go anywhere else. Your team is exceptional. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
With sincere gratitude, Tonya Lucas...
Read moreMy wife’s name is STEFFANNE CROSS. I took her straight to your hospital at 2:30 A.M. Monday morning. We were prepared to stay in the waiting area after her CT SCAN for a room for her Pancreatitis. Writhing in pain. One of YOUR E.R. nurses came over and told us it would be a long wait. As I said we were prepared to wait it out. She also said that Salem Hospital had a bed. We SPECIFICALLY asked WILL SHE GET THE SAME TREATMENTS THERE AS SHE WOULD HERE. Your nurse said ABSOLUTELY. SO my wife agreed to go to Salem. The next day Salem’s doctors and G.I. Team said they ARE NOT equipped to do the things she needs! NOW….Your Hospital MASS GENERAL need to RIGHT YOUR WRONG and have my wife sent back to where she can get the proposer treatment! We would’ve NEVER TAKEN THAT ROOM AT SALEM! Do the right thing and get her back there! She should be skipped ahead of whomever is waiting for a room at Mass General due to your hospitals mistake!! She has been through a living nightmare with this! We thought we were coming to THE BEST and soo far she’s getting overlooked AGAIN! She can NOT go on living with this pain. If you saw her day in and day out you’d truly see she needs your care. SHE NEEDS THE BEST!! Once again WE WOULD’VE NEVER LEFT if we weren’t lead to believe she was going to get the same treatment at Salem. Please...
Read moreMy experience at Mass general hospital was anything but memorable December 2019 I was suffering stomach pain and I could hardly breathe when they first saw me they said they need to get me over to somebody quick so they put me in a room in a wheelchair with other people who had problems as well my problem was I had trouble breathing they never came and got me after they said I was a first patient priority! I finally got tired of waiting around I got out of that wheelchair I walked to the front desk with all my strength and I said look if somebody is not going to see me tell me now! Otherwise I can die in peace on my own couch in my own place without having to worry or wonder if somebody's ever coming to get me! Mass general hospital was a joke for me after they did that to me if you're a patient that goes there and they give you good care well that's fine for you but for some of us they treated us like we weren't non-existent I happen to be one of those! I regretted changing my insurance over to them I changed it back to BMC I will never change it again over to Mass general hospital! Plus this place is extremely huge and you could easily get lost trying to go wherever you're trying to find I personally don't recommend this place after my experience...
