Best bánh mì place in Boston!!!
When it comes to bánh mì, what differentiates good bánh mì from great bánh mì is the bread. Obviously, fresh ingredients are important, but the difference between good ingredients and great ingredients is marginal once you pass a certain threshold of freshness. For example, if I bit into a soggy cucumber while eating a bánh mì, I would throw up. But as long as it’s crunchy and fresh, the difference between a good cucumber and a great cucumber is unnoticeable to the layman’s palate. Further, the simplicity of the make up of bánh mì means that there is little room for variety when it comes to the quality of the fillings (I assume all of the bánh mì places are getting their cold cuts from the same 2-3 suppliers). So what does that leave us? The bread.
Bánh Mì OK consistently serves the best baguettes that I have ever come across in the greater Boston area. It is light, flakey, and airy. It doesn’t leave a powder-y residue in your mouth, and just tastes “fresh.” As said best by Colette in the Disney feature, Ratatouille, the best way to tell if bread is good without tasting it, is by the sound of the crust. And according to my girlfriend, the crunch emitted by the bánh mì served by this mom-and-pop establishment is on par with the bánh mì that she used to eat every morning growing up in Vietnam.
At this point, you might be wondering, is this a joke? I can assure you, it is not. My girlfriend and myself have ventured around the greater Boston area for the better part of the last three months looking for the best bánh mì. Throughout the process, we have developed very strong opinions on this matter. Are we bánh mì connoisseurs? Far from it. But it is our humble opinion that this is, in fact, the best bánh...
Read moreOh my gosh absolutely loved this place!!! The shrimp spring rolls is a must-get. It’s packed with veggies and noodles but also 3 big plump shrimps in each one. And the peanut sauce was so delicious!!!
I got the bbq pork Banhmi and it was HUGE. Barely could finish it but I managed to after a while. The only thing is they have limited seating so just a heads up you might not be able to eat inside but they pack the banhmi well so you can take it with you.
The BBQ pork was a bit cooled but still delicious regardless and at such an amazing price! Their veggies are all fresh which I loved!
When I come back to Boston, definitely making a stop here again for their pho which I saw people ordering a lot...
Read moreThis was a great find. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise (as I was expecting it to be overpriced and small portions) but the prices are fair and the banh mi is great! I started to go here regularly because of the excellent service, how clean everything is, and they definitely don’t skimp out on anything like the meat nor is the food overly greasy/oily. It’s clean and they prepare the food in front of you. I highly recommend this place as a lunch spot. I’ve had all their banh mi options, haven’t yet tried the other items, but can definitely say that the banh mi is excellent. My only feedback is not to overload so many raw onions in the sandwiches sometimes but that only...
