Casa Verde Taqueria in the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts has a large outdoors seating area in the back of the restaurant next to the parking lot. Parking is free in the back parking lot. One of my friends dines outside only during this health situation. There are large umbrellas on most of the tables and we got hit with the sun regardless, around 4pm. We ordered the Brussels sprouts taco, pescado taco, queso with carnitas and chips, and barbacoa quesadilla. Each dish was delicious and flavorful. The tacos were one per order and pricey. A carafe of water was placed on the table and the server poured our glasses from the carafe, leaving a small amount. When the carafe was empty, I went to a shop for several minutes. I came back to the table and after a while, I asked a server for a refill of the carafe. Afterwards, my friend said she had asked a server to refill the carafe when I was away from the table. The service was good otherwise. What I like is that different servers help out each table, not just one person. There is a HAF fee of 5% which I noticed when I got home and looked through the pictures. HAF is supposedly a kitchen fee and sales tax was applied to this fee as HAF was placed in the subtotal.

Went for lunch with the wife hoping to miss a big rush that is expected around dinner time. We were seated immediately and given water. We quickly ordered chips with guacamole as an appetizer and it arrived shortly after. It was delicious with onions, cilantro, and lots of lime, which I personally enjoy. We both ordered the fried chicken torta. They arrived about 10-15 minutes later. The potatoes that go as a side are fantastically seasoned and crisp. The chicken and sandwich as a whole was great as well, it was just a tad to much breading in relation to chicken. For lunch this was great, a fast and cozy spot for mexican-american styled food. The food came out fast and the wait staff was friendly.

Well, it’s definitely isn’t a lone star nor does it come close!! Prices are much higher here. $15 for two tacos is a bit steep! Neither of which come with lime or hot sauce. The woman who rang me up humiliated me in front of the entire restaurant. Apparently you have to pay for the hot sauce? Maybe you should’ve charged me for it in the first place and a wedge of lime. If I order tacos over the phone I have no way of knowing whether or not they charge. Shrimp was chewy and the fish was a bit fishy if you know what I mean! Nevertheless I like authentic tacos and the full experience whether I choose to dine in or not. That means lime and hot sauce. She literally pulled a snarky McDonald’s type tactic trying to charge for the sauce. Yes, I do appreciate that she said this time she would include it but it’s a little much. I was going to save the little hot sauce but the experience and poor quality ruined my appetite to the point I threw it away. I would of been happier with mozzarella sticks and saved a few bucks. I have no problem spending on tacos that are fresh and come with the right toppings. If you’re in the mood to travel a bit further I also recommend you compare these to Los Amigos in Waltham, MA!

Positives: The food and drinks came out in a timely manner The chips were tasty Negatives: The corn and black bean salsa severely lacked acid and salt. There was not enough salsa for the amount of chips. The fish taco - the fish was mostly breading, very little actual fish (see photo) The pork taco - the pork would benefit from a sauce or jus, and also salt The quesadilla - overpowered by the mountain of cheese, the tortilla tasted stale and chewy The spicy margarita - I typically love a spicy drink, but the amount of spice on the rim was overpowering, even when just smelling it while drinking rather than tasting it, it took away from the flavor of the drink itself Service - I couldn’t tell you who my server was. No identification on the staff. The person who took our credit card payment did not say a word to us, not a thank you, and barley paused for a moment, more so did a drive by our table. Atmosphere - we sat inside thinking it would be cooler on a heat advisory day, but actually it was cooler outside. There was overly dim lighting. It was quite loud.

3.5 star. Love you for having FOUR unique vegetarian tacos on the menu rather than the usual ambiguous "veggie taco". But the only one that I liked was the yuca croquet taco. Unfortunately the others missed the mark for flavor and texture. Overall I think the tortillas are too big and moist which makes the taco a bit difficult to eat without falling apart. Imo the cauliflower taco was bland and watery, brussels we're too chewy for such a delicate tortilla and the tofu should be sliced smaller so there's more seasoning to plain tofu ratio. I give three stars bc I feel like they can do better with very little effort. The yuca taco has wonderful texture and flavor- for me could use more spice. Will return to try some apps bc ( nachos and) I still really liked the vibe and potential.

I so want to give them higher rating.... We were lucky - on a Saturday we got a seat at 545 without a wait at a table with an old video system (which my son played a lot). Guacamole was good but a little odd because it was thick. Chips were great. We got 6 tacos- and some were quite good and some were meh. Salting was very inconsistent. The tortillas for the tacos was perfect but I would have preferred something with more crunch. The quesadilla was really great albeit a bit spicy for our 11 year old. On the other hand- there was no spice to the habanero Marguerita. Unfortunately the server forgot to order our quesadilla so we had to wait another 30 minutes. So inconsistency in service and food made it a 3 star only.
