The atmosphere and service is great, the food is very good if you get the right thing and middling if you don't, not bad, just not great.
The pad Thai was amazing so if you're wanting that definitely come here.
The spring rolls were definitely freezer and low quality ones you could get at a grocery store.
The chicken satay was probably the best I've ever had, they went heavier on the actual curry on the chicken than most other places I've been to which rely on the peanut sauce for the bulk of the taste. I do love a good peanut sauce and it complimented the chicken well, but it enhanced, it wasn't necessary for enjoyment because the chicken alone was that good.
The red curry tasted good but it sort of felt like it was a bunch of good ingredients put together but not really a dish, hard to explain but everything felt very separate vs combined. I've had other red curry in the past, maybe this was a bit.. watery? Could have used a thickening agent or been boiled down.
The Thai pancake was really good.
I will definitely come back and keep trying things here, as the highs are very high, but I feel like this is a place where some of their items are made very well and the others are sort of mid.
But they actually put curry in the red curry, coming up from Florida the palate in new England seems a bit sensitive to.. spice or.. flavor. Some places here really under spice their food, this is not one of those places which is to my liking.
I'm excited to trying the sushi here as this place is a walk from my house.
Don't take my review as cause to stay away the highs are high and the lows are just sort of mediocre. Aside from the spring rolls those really need to be made on site or something. Something there needs to change.
Lots of vegetarian options if you don't eat meat, which I do but I've got friends that don't so I'm glad I'll be able to...
Read moreMy partner and I both think of this place as a comfort because the quality of food, the service and the value for your money are just unmatched.
Partner loves to get crispy spicy basil chicken and I love their veggie drunken noodles. Solid level of spice if you ask for it. We usually ask for a 4/5 spice level and it's well done.
The only improvement they could have would be in consistency. I believe there are 2 different chefs and one of them is arguably the better one, especially at making drunken noodles. Whenever that chef makes the dish, the noodles are perfect in flavour, texture and have a nice char and kick to them. But the difference in flavour between the two chefs isn't too stark and even the food portion and taste is still good!
Other things we've tried and liked include the tom kha gai soup! So heartwarming and delicious, like a warm hug in a bowl! The veg basil fried rice is another favourite of mine and always consistently great!
Overall I recommend them for their food and the lovely and attentive staff who are always great. A special mention for how fast and efficient the service is! We've never had to wait too long for our food and we've easily eaten here over two...
Read moreKey takeaway: very solid addition to JP with good Thai and sushi offerings and decent performance across both cuisines.
1 star - service was quick and friendly, very attentive 1 star - ambiance was lovely with really pretty drop lanterns, sushi bar and window bar seating areas, and pretty cool murals against the chalkboard-style wall 1 star - value was on point, with most dinner entrees running $10-15 including generous servings of duck, veggies, and noodles. Our scorpion soft shell crab roll was $12 and while it over-indexed on rice just the slightest bit, it was a LARGE roll and also filled with nice, crunchy crab. 0.5 star - taste was a-ok, nothing mind-blowing. I think Soup Shack has better noodle soups to be honest...my khao soi was a bit too sweet and not as spicy or flavorful as I like it. My partner's duck noodle soup was too salty, and her noodles were a bit clumpy, and we both agreed the scorpion roll was under-salted such that we actually needed to dunk it in soy sauce. 0.5 star - innovation. Nothing to write home about although all the good Thai and Japanese sushi standbys like basil fried rice, pad thai, khao soi, and dragon rolls,...
