I rarely give negative reviews, especially the first time I try a restaurant, but the food was so bland that it surprised me. The food is an absolute rip-off. I ordered the "Grilled Eel Ramen in Soup" ($18) and "Agedashi Tofu" ($7) through Uber Eats. Here is the description of the soup from their Uber Eats page: Chicken and pork soup base, topped with grilled eel, bean sprouts, corn, scallions, and wood ear." The soup was mostly flavorless and completely missing the corn and wood ear. The few pieces of scallions that were in the soup were boiled to nothingness. The tofu was soggy (understandable being delivery) with zero flavor and the "light sweet ginger and soy sauce" that came with the tofu did nothing to salvage the dish. I tasted no ginger at all, so all I had was mushy fried tofu dipped in soy sauce. I could have overlooked most of the issues with the food if any component was prepared well. I would have been happy with a good broth for the ramen, even if the other ingredients noted were missing. There are too many great restaurants in Boston to waste another chance...
Read moreI'd give 1.5 star for hot food and 4 for sushi rolls. We ordered for dinner: 1. tempura platter, 2. chicken fried udon noodles, 3. Grilled teriyaki wahoo platter, 4. Two rolls for kids. To their credit it was well package and prepared for to-go. The rolls are fine. But the hot foods were bad. Tempura batter was hard and plasticky and the veggies inside were soggy like the frying temperature was too low. While we liked the udon noodles the chicken pieces were dry and overcooked. They had the telltale signs of fake grille marks from precooked frozen chicken breast. Same with the wahoo fillet for being a city on the sea, it was dry and gamey and got the fake grill marks. Again, most likely bought frozen precooked. The chicken in the udon we can overlook but not the wahoo fillet which is the feature of the platter. So, from what we ordered, the hot foods are 1.5 star. Very...
Read moreI went to Fin’s for dinner with a friend and I liked the place overall. The music was horrible (like headache-causing horrible), but the food and service were great.
I was not a fan of their miso soup, but steak teriyaki was tasty and rich. Loved the dumplings and the creme brûlée too. My friend and I paid $45+tip for the steak, a ramen, the dumplings and dessert. The prices are great, especially in this neighborhood. As a non- American, I struggled so much understanding the tip culture when I first moved here, so I appreciate how Fin’s has a set of guidelines on tips for international visitors.
The place is great for families and friends gatherings. Would not recommend for dates- the music will...
