Living in the North End I’ve been intrigued to visit, especially after hearing multiple raving reviews, but my significant other (SO) has a gluten allergy and Nando’s menu doesn’t blatantly provide GF pasta as an option. After months of wanting to try, I decided to call to confirm if they offer GF pasta a which they confirmed they did! I proceeded to immediately make a reservation with friends and before being seated I asked again, if you offer GF pasta, which was confirmed for a second time. We started the night well with amazing pour of wine evening distributing the bottle for four, which was unique and LOVED that compared to other places that do a normal pour and leave a weird amount in the bottle with four guests. The olive oil with olives were delish and authentic!!! But unfortunately we never got the olive oil or bread refilled esp for the extra sauce on the plates during the meal. But, most importantly, when it came to ordering the food we were told they were out of GF pasta… my SO’s only option for dinner was the most expensive steak option on the menu. I feel scammed and cheated that we did our due diligence to confirm TWICE before ordering anything that GF pasta was an option, only to find out it was in fact not. This prevents us from being able to hold trust in returning here without bringing our own GF pasta from home and put us into a budget well over what we anticipated to spend for dinner. While airing my grievances it may be worth to note it was uncomfortably hot especially near the open kitchen. It would be well worth investing in a fan for the summer nights as I felt I was close to passing out from the heat, furthermore, the shrimp on the lobster ravioli were smaller than a dime- the photo on their website is not an accurate representation. I feel beyond disappointed in the lack of accountability provided by this establishment to provide welcoming, comfortable dining that is inclusive to dietary restrictions- all within the quite literal backyard...
Read moreIt was extremely and unusually warm for the season on 4/13/23 when we went to Nando's. We planned to go to Carmelina's but found out it was reservation only too late. Decided to go to Nando's because the windows were the "walls" and were open and expected it to be comfortable seating while there on the warm night. Also, food look good from the seats closest to the sidewalks as well as drinks. First, it took over 20 minutes for our server to come and actually introduce himself. We ordered our youngest spaghetti with butter which was $19, oldest son ravioli with butter (ravioli with buffalo mozzarella) they still charged us for the special menu price which was a cream and mushroom sauce $28 😲, Carbonara $28 (BY far the WORSE Carbonara I have ever seen Olive Garden would make it better if on their menu), Brazino for me $38 this was the only thing worth its price taste and in display since it was the whole fish great experience but it took over an hour after ordering to get it while we were sweltering hot in this restaurant! And the server didn't complete the service by opening and deboning the fish must've thought I didn't know he was supposed to. We ordered 2 Old Fashioned at the NYC price of $16 no liquor, watered down with crushed ice who uses crushed ice for bourbon drinks anymore?! Pellegrino's cost $8 each and we got 2 since it was again so hot that while I was eating the equally hot fish I started to feel faint and couldn't finish my meal needed to leave and get fresh air from a place whose windows are walls were open doesn't make sense. With that being said I would never go back again. I don't think restaurants understand that bad service even with okay to good food will make the whole experience negative. We pay for service or I can make my own food and drinks at home. If you can get a reservation elsewhere like Loco Taquiera in South Boston you should it will totally be worth the...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. First off, the food here is mediocre at the very best. The chicken was slimy and wet and the pomodoro tasted like it was prego. Not one of my party finished their dish. However, the awful experience began before we were even sat. We had a reservation at 8 pm and we arrived 5 minutes early, and we were not seated until 8:45 pm. A woman and her group who arrived ten minutes after us with a reservation at the same time were seated 15 minutes before us right in front of our faces. When I said something to the owner/hostess, she tried to say "they arrived before you" when i literally watched them check in. Then, she went inside and hugged the women, so she was clearly friends with them. When we were seated, they told us we would be seated downstairs, but my boyfriend was on crutches and it would be very difficult for him to make it down the stairs. The owner then told my boyfriend that his injury "didn't look that bad" and that "it looks like you can get down the stairs." When we asked if there was any way we could have a table upstairs, she said we would have to wait another 45 minutes to an hour. My boyfriend decided because we were all so hungry that he would butt-scoot down the stairs. In doing so his crutches fell down the stairs, and the very nice waitress in the basement helped him up. The owner then headed down the stairs and continued arguing with us, calling my boyfriend "hostile" and a "danger to the establishment," when the real danger was forcing us to eat downstairs when we clearly had a person with us who was injured. The whole experience was an absolute nightmare. I hope the owner is ashamed of herself. My boyfriend was extremely embarrassed having to sit on the ground to make ir down the stairs and when he did make it down she said "see, it wasn't that hard." Absolutely...
