I've been to Sip several times now, and I can't get myself to like this place. Everything looks so great in theory, but everything turns out to be lackluster.
Their chai latte lacks the boldness and spiciness that I'd find elsewhere. In one instance, it was luke-warm instead of hot. It tasted like they only added about half of the chai tea that they should have added, then diluted it with too much milk.
I couldn't detect any hint of ginger in the ginger latte. If I blindly tasted it, there is absolutely no way I'd mention anything about the advertised ginger or pepper. If I see "ginger and black pepper", I'm imagining a peppery spiced drink that burns the back of my throat with a rich ginger spice... all I tasted here was coffee and milk.
The last thing I tried was the worst: the Autumn Harvest Latte. This is advertised to contain cinnamon, ginger, and clove. I didn't taste any of the first two, and perhaps too much of the last. It tasted like what I'd imagine a musty, old book tastes like. To be unfortunately blunt, it was gross. I couldn't finish it. I ended up throwing it out. To give them the benefit of the doubt, something may have gone horribly wrong in the production of my beverage, and that isn't what it normally tastes like.
After being disappointed by all three drinks I've tried here, I can't justify coming back again. The staff is super polite, it's a great location, and the menu looks very nice, but the drinks just...
Read morePerfect Financial District refuge! Located right in the heart of Post Office Square, this spot became our saving grace during an unexpected downpour. My niece and I ducked in and ended up having a lovely time - she got a smoothie while I went with the dirty chai, which hit the spot on a rainy morning.
The floor-to-ceiling windows offer excellent people-watching opportunities, especially entertaining when you’re dry inside watching business folks navigate the weather outside. The atmosphere is conducive to productivity too - plenty of seating and a quiet enough environment that I could easily see myself setting up with a laptop for a work session. Great central location if you need a comfortable spot to wait out Boston weather or just want a quality beverage break while exploring the Financial District. The staff was friendly and the drinks were well-made. Definitely a solid choice for both quick stops and...
Read moreAs someone who travels 12 months a year and needs to get work done, finding a good spot with space is key. Sip Cafe is right in the middle of a quiet park in Boston, which is perfect for escaping the city noise.
They have lots of tables, both inside and a nice, quiet outdoor area, which is great if you want to sit with your laptop. The only real issue was the internet, they either don't have it, or it wasn't working when we were there.
But everything else was great. The cashier was a Colombian girl who gave excellent service; she was very nice. The bagel with salmon was soft and warm, just right. And the coffee was fantastic, it was one of the few places we found that offered something different than a regular Americano. The price for everything was also fair. This is a top spot for a good coffee and a...
