Last week, we took my mom to a concert for her 60th birthday and were looking for somewhere to eat ahead of time. As it was a significant occasion and our group was large, we called around to a couple of places, including Tavern, to try to get a reservation. Everywhere we called said on concert nights they are first come first serve. No problem, it made sense and we planned to get there early to try to make the best of it. My wife and I arrived at Tavern super early around 4:30 to make sure we got our name in. The guy at the host station said as soon as half of our party arrived he would seat us immediately. Great, or so I thought. Not 15 min later, 3/4 of the group was in the restaurant and I went back up to the host to let him know. He said he’d text me when he had a table… not what we were told when we signed in, but I get it, it was a big group and the place was busy. 30 min passes, everyone has arrived, my wife goes up to check again. She sees an open table with one seat short and asks if we can just pull up an extra chair. They said no. The whole time we’re all at the bar, ordering drinks, trying to be patient. At around 6:30, 2 hours after we originally arrived, my mom goes up and asked for an update. She was told we would have to wait at least another hour because the owner was coming in and wanted the only table that could fit us all. To say we were disappointed was an understatement after all of the time we had waited, especially when we weren’t allowed to make a reservation but apparently that table had been reserved the entire time? What was even more annoying was they probably wouldn’t have even told us had we not been checking in periodically. Eventually, my wife went across the street to another bar as a Hail Mary attempt and explained the situation to their host. Even though they were also packed and it was last minute, they figured out a way to seat us within 10 minutes and we ended up having dinner there. If Tavern had just said from the beginning that they couldn’t accommodate a group of our size I wouldn’t have minded at all, but we wasted a ton of time and money waiting when they knew all along they...
Read moreSo first off, let me say I do not like leaving bad reviews. I usually follow a policy of if it's bad, I simply won't go back. But after my experience, I am sharing. Last night 7/6/25 myself, 8 others 7 adults 2 kids went out to dinner here while we waited for the train. They did get us a seat very quickly and 2 booths across from each other. Perfect and set a tone that this was the right pick. Well, it went downhill from there. Gave our drink orders and most came back correctly some did not. When we asked about the wrong one we got an answer of Sorry we just didn't put any of the garnishes in the drink. OK, we will let that one go. Then came the time to order food. Some ordered apps and some ordered the main course. We all got our main course first and then apps. Came out shortly after. Not sure what happened there. Wasn't able to eat much of the apps cause I wanted to make sure I ate my main course ( which I got the steak tips) first before it got cold. Also had to ask, multiple times to 3 different people about getting simple side items that were originally asked when the order was placed. Side of ranch and BBQ for dunking and a side of parmesan cheese for the kids' pasta. Then came the bill. Right away I noticed the side Caesar salad was $12.50. I mentioned this and the waitress told me that they are old menus and they haven't changed it in the system. I then asked to speak to a manager. She came back and informed me that the "manager told her I can either pay and be done with it or take it out of her tip" which is by far the worst thing I have ever heard for a server and the manager. 1 The manager not wanting to come over and talk about the bill is unacceptable and 2 To say to take it out of her bill was even worse. If this is a business that treats its staff and consumers like this I will not be returning and will encourage others to please stay away. This is Boston and near the Garden/North Station. There are so many other options to try. Please do not help promote this type of laziness or form of...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE if you have a food allergy or intolerance.
I got deathly ill 45 minutes after consuming the food.
I have never been treated so rudely or disrespected from a establishment with no care to fix this situation. I knew it was the right thing to do to alert anyone and everyone with allergies with this review to stay as far away as possible from this establishment!
I have celiac disease and got poisoned by their food. I made all the right steps to tell them it was a allergy. I have not gotten sick at a restaurant for several years.
After being sick for countless hours, not being able to open my eyes from the pain I called to speak to the manager at North Station. Management (Nick Santamaria) refused to acknowledge what happened to me and kept saying it was there fault and would not comp me for the gluten filled food.
The manager kept repeating, I know we followed protocol and there is nothing else i can do for you other then talk to the kitchen and make sure this never happens again and that's it.
If management is so confident on their protocol then why are there multiple reviews stating they have gotten sick from there food?
You never keep a customer in blame. I was so offended by management telling me it must of been a mistake on MY end and continuing to talk over me and not answer any of my questions. My mistake was ordering from this establishment in the first place.
A restaurant cant be 100% confident that they could not of made a mistake just because they have a protocol.
End of the day you DO NOT blame a customer or refuse to help them.
I understand management cannot heal my internal damage but management can ATLEAST refund me for getting food poisoning from their restaurant.
absolute disgrace. NEVER eating here or recommending anyone to the restaurant...
