I went here with a friend and the experience was pretty good! We were originally trying to find a café to eat at, but most of the spots were full with lines outside! So, we ended up here. It is a very narrow café with some small tables to the left and stools with long table thing on the right. The atmosphere was very cozy, though I wished there was jazz music playing in the background.
We ordered the BALT and roasted chicken sandwich (the grilled one). My friend said their sandwich was good! Mines was also good, BUT a bit difficult to eat. It was kind of a monster of a sandwich to finish, though delicious. The sandwich was a bit more charred than my liking, but the charr adds flavor…I think… It was pretty cool to see the sandwiches served in baskets! I haven’t seen anything like it!
For dessert my friend got the eclair and I got the apple caramel bread pudding. My friend said the eclair was good, but wished it was less firm/hard. The bread pudding was pretty good! It’s not too sweet (which I like). But, it didn’t pair too well with my chicken sandwich. This is a personal thing, but I loved that the eclair had a long plate that went along with it! The bread pudding came on a regular wide plate, nice plate!
Overall, a pretty good café! A lot of people were there doing work or studying, so it’s a good calm place if you want to get some work done here.
Our total is around $30, which isn’t bad for two people. Not...
Read moreSeemed like a good spot with a historic atmosphere but the coffee wasn’t good. It might be good enough for people who order flavored drinks and mask the flavor, but as an avid coffee drinker and fan of Stumptown Coffee Roaster Beans at other Cafes… the espresso definitely was not dialed in or extracted well. They didn’t seem to use the scales right next to the machine or a timer. Additionally, there was no layer of foam as the espresso was coming out of the portafilter. I ordered an iced americano black and I’m assuming that’s not what most coffee drinkers are having here. I’m surprised that the Barista’s answer was to just add milk or sugar when I know very well the problem was definitely in the quality of the shot pulled. I don’t think anyone who really enjoys coffee for the blend or roast is having coffee...
Read moreIm a long time thinking cup customer so I hope someone at the north end location reads this. I’ve been going to thinking cup on Newbury street for 4 years I’ve never once had an issue with that location. I’ve recently moved to the north end and started ordering here and every single time I’ve gone they have messed up my order. First time I went they forgot about my drinks entirely, second time they put almond milk in my latte when I asked for whole, third time they forgot to put egg on my sausage egg and cheese, fourth time a different customer took my order and I had to ask for a remake. These issues would not bother me on an individual basis but after 4 visits I feel they will mess up again. I hope the management from newbery takes a look because it really is the best...
