This is my first time writing a negative review, but after our wedding last month I can’t recommend Alexa’s to anyone. We wanted to like Alexa’s, since they are the required caterer for our wedding venue, and were initially excited since they would handle our rentals, setup and teardown of the event space, thus giving family and friends more time to enjoy our wedding. TLDR; they hid over $1000 in rental fees, their business manager was rude after calling her out on it, they served mediocre food for a large price, and threw away our cake.
While Alexa’s was working directly with the rentals company to secure linens, table settings, etc, their proposals never gave a clear breakdown of the costs involved. We were trying to be budget conscious, so knowing how much delivery fees would be was important to our decision making process. As the process progressed and we asked about these details, Alexa’s didn’t seem to have accurate numbers on hand. This is notable because they work with this venue for weddings multiple times a weekend and it would be impossible to be unfamiliar with these fees.
During our final call, they mentioned that there was a chance the rental fees had increased. After specifically asking for those fees to be itemized, our quote for those fees increased by 300% and included a new production labor fee. I personally called the rental company to verify the amounts and was told there would be an additional $715 fee for after hours pickup. For some people this may not be a big deal, but this was an unacceptable extra cost for us. I called them out on this, and there was no apology. I asked the business manager to remove all items that we were renting except linens (so that we could avoid these fees, and pick up and drop off linens ourselves). In response, she canceled our entire rental order from the rental company. So we had to scramble to ensure that our linens would still be available and now work directly with the rental company. To boot, she was rude about the fact that we were now using disposable tableware, and stopped emailing me instead preferring to talk to my fiance.
The food wasn’t good. The steak was cold when my spouse got to it (and he was first in line), and no one gave us compliments on the food. And finally, they threw away our beautiful (and expensive!) cutting cake that we had ordered and friends had decorated for us. We had only a few bites and we never saw it after that, and I’m still sad about it. Overall, Alexa’s was a huge source of stress and...
Read moreAlexa’s catered our wedding on August 30th, 2024 at Maroni Meadows in Snohomish and we couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to book with them.
Starting with the food, all of it was absolutely wonderful and we received tons of compliments from our guests throughout the night about how delicious dinner was. They have an extensive catering menu with lots of dishes to choose from, so I encourage future couples to take advantage of their monthly open houses where you can go to their cafe and try a selection of some of their most popular dishes. Even though we already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to serve, it was helpful to narrow down our choices.
Alexa’s service was also spectacular. We opted for a buffet meal where guests served themselves, but their staff cleared out people’s dishes as they finished eating, kept the water carafes on the tables filled, and in general were just kind and friendly folks. After dinner, they handled the clean up with ease.
Alexa’s was also wonderful at handling all the details leading up to the big day, including ordering our rental items through CORT (linens, dishware, glassware, silverware, etc.). They answered all our questions and made the changes we requested quickly and efficiently. At the meeting we had with them one month out from the event, they asked us everything they needed to make sure we were on the same page so that the event would go smoothly. In short, they were diligent and professional every step of the way and were committed to making our wedding a success! I would absolutely recommend Alexa’s catering to any future couples, especially if anyone reading this is booking a wedding at Maroni Meadows. (Maroni doesn’t have an on-site kitchen of any kind, so it can be challenging to find a caterer who can make that work. Alexa’s has catered with Maroni many times so it was a complete relief to our wedding planning stress knowing that they were familiar with the venue’s limitations).
Thank you again to the team at Alexa’s for your part in making our...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. I've only been once but I hated the food so much that I won't be going back. That being said, I still recommend giving it a try. It's a unique little place with a fairly nice staff. I liked the colorful art work on the walls and the selection of music. It was well lit. I recommend coming here because they have a normal burger menu, but they do things a little differently. I wasn't a fan, but you may be. It was 3 o'clock, we were in for lunch, but according to the website, we were handed dinner menus. I had the teriyaki chicken burger- if you like the salty teriyaki sauce with a thin piece of chicken, this is for you. I like sweeter teriyaki sauces. The chicken was overcooked and the sandwich tasted bitter to me. It was served on what I believe was a wholegrain bun... not a fan. There wasn't enough pineapple, and they place it right in the center. I had it with a salad- (supposedly there are salad options, but I was just told I could have fries, salad, or soup) the salad came with red onions, mushrooms, black olives, diced tomatoes and zucchini... I wasn't aware that's what I'd be served when I had opted for the raspberry vinaigrette. Once I saw the salad, I saw that I picked the wrong dressing. If you like your raspberry vinaigrette to be more vinegary then this is perfect for you. But, like my teriyaki sauce, I like it to be more sweeter. I also had a vanilla Italian soda. It was kind of bland. My boyfriend had the bacon cheeseburger, he thought it was okay but didn't like the bun (wholegrain (?) also). The fries were a little below average. He had a corona with lime, which was fine. They serve their drinks in mason jars, which is unique. The person who greeted us was very nice. Our server was okay. He never did ask what we thought of the food. When he came to remove my plate, he did ask if I was finished, but never asked if I wanted a box. He got my bf a second beer, never offered me a refill. It was still okay service, I just really...
