Nice place with nice people, but with terrible hours and product that leaves a lot to be desired.
I went there for the first time today with my girlfriend, excited to try a new local macaron place in Bothell. We seemed to be the first ones in the store that day and everything looked great and fresh. The whole place has a very homey, noncorporate vibe. My girlfriend and I opted for the box of 6 for $18 and the service was quick and courteous. The whole buying experience was fairly pleasant, except about half of their offerings are upcharged and aren't available for the box of six. No biggie.
So we went a block back to my gf's place and tried the macarons. I will say that the flavors are pretty outstanding. Especially the Vietnamese Coffee and Black Sesame Creme Brulee were fantastic. Unfortunately, these macarons have the worst consistency of any macaron I've ever had, including pre-frozen store bought ones. The frosting in the middle is thick, cold, and chewy with few exceptions. I would be completely unsurprised if I found out these are frozen and thawed before they're served. They lack any sort of freshness you might assume, which is an absolute dealbreaker for me when it comes to baked goods.
Overall I was fairly disappointed. I love supporting local businesses, and I want them to succeed, but between the restrictive hours and mediocre consistency, I don't see myself coming back. There are much better macarons available...
Read moreThis is my second time visiting this delightful macaron store, and it continues to impress! I tried the Princess Peach Nitro tea this time, and it is a perfect pick for an 80°F day—super refreshing and not overly sweet. The price is reasonable, $5.25 for 16 oz. I also gave the bubble tea ice cream sandwich a go, and the popping boba added a fun twist to the experience!
The store offers a great selection of coffee, tea, and even non-caffeinated drinks like lemonade, so there's something for everyone. I dropped by around 5 PM on a Thursday, and parking was a breeze—just head to the lot behind the store via 101st Ave NE.
If you’re looking for a cozy spot to hang out with friends, they even have a party room available for rent at the back of the store. The owner mentioned it can fit about 15 people. The rates are $65/hr on weekends and $55/hr on weekdays, and you get access to a fridge and bathroom. Plus, you can bring your own food!
This small business is a hidden gem, offering delicious treats alongside consignment items like jewelry, greeting cards, pet treats, teapots, and their own branded products.
Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area and looking for a friendly, casual spot to relax and enjoy some...
Read moreLove the concept and flavors but all six of the macaroons we tried tasted stale or previously frozen.
There was an unpleasant chewiness to all of the macaroons especially the black sesame brûlée. The filling is good maybe a little dense for some taste. Salted Caramel was probably the most fresh with the Vietnamese Coffee also being of great flavor.
Service was good but the shop is only open limited hours two days a week currently which is inconvenient.
Pricing is all over the place with three tiers of pricing so when choosing an $18 box of six you have to stay within the bounds of that pricing.
Completion for sweet shops in this area is fierce and for the price I’d rather visit Hillside bakery down the street or wait for Pasterier 55. Then for macaroons specifically i'd probably opt for a trip to Kirkland for Lady Yum, sorry.
I hope they can dial in the freshness of products here and i love the creative and custom possibilities they offer. A signature sweets shop like this should strive for the best...
